Dick Cheney is out selling his new autobiography and one of the "insider" pieces that came from it is that apparently Cheney disagreed strongly with the position taken by then Solictor General Paul Clement's amicus brief that the Heller case should be interpreted very narrowly. The decision at the time was not popular among Second Amendment enthusiasts and apparently wasn't all that popular among certain parts of the White House either. Cheney goes on to say that when Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison approached him about a separate amicus brief on behalf of the Senate, he thought that was a good opportunity to indicate the stance DOJ should have taken in their brief.
