Sold my G26, too big to carry, considering "mouse" guns

I recently sold my G26 because I found it a little uncomfortable to carry (not that it should be) and now am considering something smaller. I am looking into either a PPK, LCP, or Seecamp. I've had little experience with the LCP, I have 2 buddies that carry them and seem to like them. I've always like the look of the PPK's, never held or shot one though. A guy at work told me about the Seecamp, haven't heard anything about them.

I'm pretty set on .380, but if you wish to consider other rounds, please do so.

I want a small, lightweight gun that I can just carry in my pocket or in a small holster (PPK route). I'm gonna try and make it up to my local gun shop and see what they have.

Thanks

I've found the PPK a bit bulky and heavy for pocket carry, although cargo pockets are OK. I have a Seecamp 32 which carries in a pocket like a .25, it will only feed pricey hollow points, no fmj for the range. A lot of friends are jumping on the LCP bandwagon and seem to be happy with them.

I finally got my hands on an LCP for a good price and I LOVE it. Carry it anywhere, anytime. Save money and probably weight over the seecamp. and the ppk is, IMO a great gun, but they feel awkward to me. I'd go with an LCP or a Walther PPS

I own a G26 and agree that its not always easy to carry. I also bought an LCP and the weght is significantly less than the ppk. I thnk the LCP s the way to go here. I can carry it in gym shorts sweat pants no problem. Good luck.

Yeah, my 2 buddies love their LCP's, I've yet to shoot them, I'd like to. The LCP price tag is more applealing too. I've never shot any walther, they seem like well built guns, if I did go with the PPK, I would probably carry it IWB. Plus the PPK would probably be a little more fun at the range.

Guess I'll have to run up to the gun shop tomorrow and touchy, feely with the PPK and see what I think.

Seecamp is well-made, but hard to find, expensive and ammo-sensitive. PPK is a nice gun, slightly smaller then a G26 (mostly thinner). Lately I've been carrying a Polish Radom P-64 (Walther PPK derivative) chambered in 9x18 Makarov, placing it neatly in between .380 and 9mm in terms of power. Nice gun, but even that is not really small enough to fit easily into a jean pocket, and it weighs 23oz unloaded, so it's not really all that light, either. I can see a niche for a really small, lightweight gun in a fairly decent caliber, i.e. Ruger LCR/KelTec P3AT. Very slim and light, easy to conceal and carry most anywhere and affordable

good luck!

My bugs make great pocket guns.
Sig P238 is the perfect .380 imo, small enough for a pocket with a holster and yet easy to shoot with the metal frame keeping recoil down.

Secondly is my Walther PPS 9mm,its pushing pocket sized carry but does fine with a t-shirt untucked in my jeans back pocket. But would be unnoticeable in a waistband holster.

Others i like:
Kahr PM9 and P380
Taurus 709

The P3AT and LCP are great guns especially for thier size, but recoil make it something id not enjoy shooting much at the range.
Taurus TCP .380 should be in shops soon.

I don't think good guns are made to be exactly comfortable to carry. I think they should actually be uncomfortable enough that you always know it's there. Last thing I want to do is forget about my tiny little gun in my pocket.

The best thing to do is to invest in good carry methods. :)

I have a SEECAMP in 32. Finding one in 380 is expensive to buy and to feed .It is my EDC. I LIKE THE FEEL OF STEEL.:D

How about a small single-stack 9mm? Kahr MK9/PM9, Kel-Tec PF9, Walther PPS... My choice is the Kahr MK9; stainless steel, 6+1 capacity, great revolver-like trigger. I carry it IWB in a Comp-Tac C-TAC holster:

I too found my G-27 to large to carry at times. I went to a S&W 642 in a Mika pocket holster for an "always" gun. Now I have no excuse to not be armed.

Wow! The smallest gun I own is a G26 so I won't be tempted to carry a mouse gun:eek:

I carry it appendix inside-the-waistband, or bellyband, depending on how covert I need to carry. I can't bring myself to go below a 9mm.

Also try out the Walther PPS. I have it in 9MM and it just disappears IWB. Because of my body size/frame I bought the Kel-Tec 3AT for pocket carry. The only thing about the KelTec is that I don't like shooting it often. I shoot 10 rounds each time I go to the range to make sure that I am accurate enough for my standards. Just another thing to consider.

This isn't a "dig". .....

I'm going to go in the opposite direction. A "real" gun isn't going to be comfortable. If you want total comfort stay at home. When I picked my carry weapon I looked at all those little guns, .380's and small 9mm. I know those calibers have good stopping power but I wanted something a little stronger. I was set on the g26 just because of the other glocks I own and how well they've worked. I went with the g27. The 40cal has good stopping power, much better than the 380. Carried in a supertuck I don't really feel it(with a good belt). I sometimes just put it in my pocket. I'm not a huge guy either, 6'2 200lbs. I just worry about stepping down in caliber and running into something nasty. In a life or death situation the odds of all your rounds hitting are slim, would you rather hit some meth head with one .380 or one 40?

Just my .02, be safe out there!

If your set on changing, have you considered a revolver. Many lightweight`s out there to choose from that are IMO, ideal for pocket carry. Also a bit more horse power than a .380 and argueably more reliable.
