so what's up with the women folk!

carolmo,

Good on you. I have seen more and more women coming to the range over the last year. Also many more women at gun shows who are buying.

Good shooting.

carolmo - and other 'mature' shooters, kudos to you for being forward-thinking enough to take responsibility for your safety to some degree. As a retired LEO, it warms my heart to see folks of your generation soldiering on and displaying the traits of self-sufficiency that made your generation the best ever.

I work part-time at a local gun shop, and there has been a marked increase in the numbers of 60+ folks coming in, relating that they're taking a CCW Permit Class, and perusing carry guns. I really enjoy working with them to select what's best for them.

One of the reasons I have my office full of gun photos, keeper targets, and framed gun school diplomas is to attract folks who are curious about shooting but never knew who to ask. I've steered three or four women to quality training with the ultimate goal of getting their carry permits.

I also feel that hiding an interest in guns and shooting in a society that tries to demonize us makes us complicit in our own abuse.

Even as a government employee, nobody's ever complained.

they got tired of your attitude, your days are numbered, at least it will be quick.

HA! you may be right. The way my wife shoots it will be quick and painless!

We took our CHL test yesterday which includes 50 rounds at various distances. My wife out shot most of the men! The instructor looked at her target and said NICE! then looked back and her, then the target again...and and repeated it again! NICE!

That's my wife. I was proud!

carolmo,

Introduce yourself to shooters who look like regulars. If they know you want help and information they will most likely be pleased to offer it.

I know this is the case at all the clubs I visit. When I see people who look like they could use help I test the waters to find out if my two cents is welcome and then try to do what I can or direct them to better resources.

This weekend I was doing an okay, but not exciting day on the targets, saw a gent with his first gun laying a pattern like a shotgun on the target at 15 yards, asked him if he had had instruction and wanted to try my guns. Less than twenty minutes later he was putting them in the black with my revolver. THAT made it a GREAT day at the range for me. :D

The only way that we are going to save the shooting sports, and collecting is to get the ladies, and the kids involved, if we don't the worthless clowns that were elected to office are going to take them away from us.

I have recently discovered that my boss and his wife are in the process of discussing learning to use, and getting a gun.

Boss came in Monday and said his wife came home with a .22 pistol this weekend. Said that the guy was talking to her about getting her carry permit, which she declined. My boss said maybe they should look into it, while it is still fairly easy to get them, so I promptly emailed him the application form and requirements - heh ;)

The answer to this question is simple, most of the men in this country have all become a bunch of Metrosexual ADD'd couch potato game players that have lost their skills to defend themselves much less any women.
To remedy that the women have figured out that it's all up to them to protect themselves because their man might break a nail.

News Flash, buddy: Protecting myself has always been my own responsibility and nobody else's.

No need to muss your manicure. :p ;)

Great, now go make me a sandwich.:D

When we got married .My wife didn't know anything about firearms.now she has her own carry gun and shoots silhouette competion.this all started .Back in 1991. All spouse need to know how to protect each other.

Story from the front line

Occasionally, I work at Bass Pro. In December I worked in the gun department on the ammo aisle. I was surprised at the number of women wanting SD ammo. Beyond that were the male customers wanting ammo for the handguns they had bought/loaned to their sisters/ daughters/ mothers in the recent months.
Most wanted .380. I did have two soccer moms, with kids, come up and ask me for 9mm AP. I told them that was not a possibility.

At my usual range I saw two middle aged black women, one of whom proudly wore her NRA Instructor's badge. At another range i saw a white instructor with his student, a young black woman. So who's complaining.

Oh no you did not just.... Holy freakin' duckin' an runnin'! Red Alert! Red Alert! Don the nuclear suits!!!! Whoooop whoooooop!
It was a joke and I am sure she can take it or I wouldn't have made. If you check you can see that she even made a joke about my manicure. I didn't fly off the handle because it was a joke.
Now far as you peetzkilla, you certainly are excitable. Are you sure you need to be around guns. Just Joking. And by the way the world loves a snitch..Not joking.

First, it was a joke, yes. It seems fairly obvious that my response was also in jest. Far more obvious, IMO, that my post is in jest than yours, what with the nuclear suits reference and all. So... who is the excitable one?

Secondarily, Since I did indeed consider your comment to be a joke, I am certainly no snitch.

Third, I assume you are implying that I reported your post, otherwise I do not understand the snitch reference. It has been plainly stated many times by the mods that they DO INDEED appreciate a snitch, when a post is truly inappropriate. I did NOT report your post, as the mods could verify if they'd be so kind. As such, I would surely appreciate an apology.

First of all in this case Tamarra needs to fight her own battles even though in this case they were all imaginary.
As far as the apology, don't hold your breath.

Hahaha, I hear you there :-) My wife shocked the heck out of me when she asked if I would think it was weird if she wanted a target .22 pistol. I said no, let's go get one. Now she has a Para LTC .45 and a Springfield EMP for carry. She can outshoot me every time. People notice her shooting, and they notice her taste in guns, too.

And dang, she looks good with that big ol' gun!

Sorry Tamarra, I thought you and I were having fun. If you feel the need to ban me then do so. No problem! My character does not depend on how many posts I have. It is real, it is mine, and no numbers can represent it.
