So, what was the reason behind the design the USFA zip gun?

Cheapshooter Maybe if the modified the frame so it was curved!
And had one side clear plastic so you could see the innards.
And had rails itself so you could attach additional ZIPs to each other.
:D

A daisy chain of zips...

I can see only one use for this and it is before its time, not mass market, and maybe not legal.

Strap it to an aduino board, RC helicopter, etc etc.

It wouldn't be too difficult to strap one of these on an RC car and have a "tank fight"
It wouldn't be cheap though.

I'm not saying it is a good idea, but I too have pndered this question and I have only come up with that one answer.

To part a fool from his money.

You got that right. I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. I can't get rid of it now. It is by far the most unreliable handgun I have ever dealt with :(. Sad to go from making some great revolvers to making this hunk of crap. It's a sure way to go bankrupt.

Actually, I was seriously considering buying one. Just thought it was so strange that it might be a fun range toy. Especially with a BX25 magazine in it. The YouTube reviews changed my mind however. Not so much the hot spent casings, and the splattering powder residue burning the shooter's hands, I can wear gloves while shooting. But the fact that it jammed at about every third or fourth round. What kind of fun would that be?

On their website they have a reliability upgrade kit listed. Fairly common for first gen guns to have a plethora of problems.

Only for manufacturers that fail to properly test their products.

I can think of many first gen designs that, while maybe not perfect, were at least reliable right out of the gate.

I can think of many "New Designs" that were baby steps away from old designs and went well. I can think of some that didn't.
I really can't think of all that many truly new designs that didn't have some sort of problem in the first generation.

The original concept was to attach it beneath an AR. Whether that would or would not require a tax stamp, I'm not sure . I do know nothing was mentioned about that at the time of its introduction .

For what purpose???
Now maybe some sort of short barreled shotgun thingy. But that would be Class 3 for sure.:D

Why mess around with a puny 22LR
When a 22LR won't do.
What did I miss? Is there something I didn't see in that catalog that wasn't just more AR accessories? Something pertaining to the USFA Zip?
