So many rifles I'd love to own :(

There is no planned quota, and am limited partly by spreading out purchases. Am catching up slowly, having only developed a real gun interest (mostly just classic military rifles) deep into middle-age.

Maybe ten total: Five Enfields, one Garand, Yugo Mauser etc. But always have a .22 rifle for cheap shooting, to help reduce the "appetite" for the larger rounds. In this manner, you might not need so much of the higher-priced each session.

The exceptional case to 'spreading them out' was an Enfield #4 on New Year's Day (Ft. Worth show) and another at the Franklin TN show seven weeks later!

When married, a slow rate of acquisition helps anticipate what cash is available for bills each month.

Hey Heir, Im a part time employee working on some contracts on military bases...I help remodel the barracks :P I only stay at one area for so long and cant really bring along my firearms and usually work 12 hour shifts everyday so not much time for anything else :( Then this coming fall Ill return to another semester of college...cant let that slip away! I did gunshow tables for about thirty years, so a lot of trade-ins followed me home. :)

As far as "keepers", they mostly have been purpose-driven. A .22 rimfire for plinking and eye-hand coordination. A .243 and an '06 for deer hunting. I've messed around with Minis and ARs, but they've not really been serious guns.

I've sold off most of the trade-in type of guns, trying to find buyers who weren't the fattest-billfold types and preferably somebody with a young shooter in the family. I've done a fair number of "bargain basement" deals for them...

I've meddled with varmint shooters; .22-250s, Swifts and now a .223, mostly for prairie dogs.

Guns are fun, but they're just tools for me. I never figured they enhanced my manly prowess during horizontal recreation...

Well, given that my income is VERY steady and VERY low, I get to buy only in my daydreams. Likely as not, I'll buy one or two in the next 5 or 6 years. I really own more than I can possibly use, given my disabilities, but since when was THAT a criteria. Still have room for a .250-3000 and a 6.5X55. Ohhhh Lord, I wish I had been born rich instead of incredibly handsome. I'm just a humble man ... God forgive me.
