So I Start 4HTomorrow...

Good for you!!!

So what happens now…is this an ongoing program?

I hope so. It would give you a chance to get the basics down, like position, sight alignment, breathing, trigger control etc.

The best thing is that it will be consistent, regular practice and these things will soon become second nature for you and it WILL transfer over to your other shooting.

Plus, like you said, it's fun.

I was in 4h shooting sports over 20 years ago and it was great. Besides shooting we got some of the best instructions that you can get. Most teachers were military or law enforcement. With people knowing how to improve technique or to watch you and point out what you're doing wrong or need improvement on made all the difference.

And yes everyone sucks shooting in the standing position compared to other supported positions. It takes more training to get really accurate standing.

When I was in 4h they provided the rifles. They were bolt action and heavy barreled. Imagine using a standard 22 with a brick ducktaped to it. Or at least that's what I thought it felt like at 12 years old.

They also taught my hunters safety course and bowhunters safety. If I could find another sportsmans club with 4h here I would sign up to help in an instant.
