Old woman answers the phone, calls her husband over...is this Korth I say? Yea.

I ask about the famous Korth Combat Magnum with 3 cylinders (.357, .38, and 9mm). First thing I do is ask for a price. Can't do that. OK, a ballpark? Well, figure with the 3 cylinders you're liiking at $18,000. Sorry sir, we must be talking about something else, everything I have read online says that (let's forget about the 2 extra cylinders for a moment) a Korth Combat Magnum is NOMINALLY $5,000. He tells me he has no idea where I got that number from and that he cannot control what is posted online. I press the price issue again and it only agitates him. He then goes on to explain that it takes the ENTIRE Korth company in Germany 2-3 months to make ONE revolver.

OK, I already know the answer to my own question but please, someone confirm that, unless I am on some serious drugs and imagined this entire conversation, this USA dealer is...like....completely wrong?

It's very, very unlikely I would ever buy a Korth, but should I email Germany and give them the heads-up as to what's going on? Do you think he's got some sort of scam going where he's royally ripping people off? I mean talk about ROYALLY ripping people off, geeze man.

Total rip-off.
Buy a PC S&W or Customs Shop Colt.
Plus there's no GOOFY cylinder release.

Korth.
Anyone familiar with the law of diminishing return?

I would honestly laugh at anyone who bought a Korth over Custom Shop Python or Performance Center 686.

OMG.... I just looked at the KorthUSA website and all I can say is LOL.

Definitely, not sinking any of that revenue into web development. Looks like a homepage somebody made in the 1990's.

Best of all and I SWEAR TO YOU it says this:

KorthUSA: A division of Earl's Repair Service

When talking about precision engineering and gunsmithing...
Nothing comes to mind quicker than an old guy in Maryland named Earl.:p

that's one fugly gun! :barf:
the revolver is almost as ugly..
festooned with all the gold-plated parts makes it look like something a bling-bling hip-hop rapper would carry

Yeah, where did you get that figure of $5000.00? What is from the 2002 Gun Tests review of the Korth Combat Revolver that listed it at $4700.00?

More specifically, just which model of Korth are you referring to when you say a "Combat Magnum" revolver? The combat version isn't shown to come in 9mm on the Korth USA website, though the Sport and Sheibenrevolver do.

I handled a Korth at a gun show last year,,,

It was not new but was LNIB,,,
The owner actually made me put on a pair of white cotton gloves.

The action was like glass,,,
It had a 4" barrel and balanced very nicely,,,
All in all it felt like a good Smith & Wesson would handle.

Sure was pretty though,,,
Deep blue like the old Pythons,,,
The stocks looked like they grew from the grip frame.

But he wanted $6,500.00 for it,,,
For that kind of money it better kiss me goodnight.

I guess it's like buying a Rolex,,,
A Timex will tell the time just as well,,,
But ya can't brag to your buddies owning one.

My God it's true, ""Raw steel transformed into precision"
Welcome to Korth USA
Korth USA is a division of Earl's Repair Service, Inc."

I told you!:D

:In heavy Southern drawl:

Don't none of y'all git to frettin' and a worryin'. Ol' Earl has been tinkerin' with them six-shooters since Bubba was President. I reckon he's done good on 'em. They are a little expensive but that's on account of that he gets 'em mailed to the house from Germany.

If you want a good deal, phone up the farm after supper and tell Rita that Jesse-Ray at tire-shop said you was a good 'un and that ya family. That $18,000 is for CSA money. You can use Lincoln dollars if ya'll rather. I think it's only around $8500 if you do BUT you'll be the one gettin' ripped-off. Once we get 'round to rise-in' again, the only thing that stuff will be good for is wipin' your backside.

OT: A cheap Timex will keep time more accurately than a Rolex because it is a quartz movement. That doesn't mean it's better or as nice, just more accurate.

It doesn't have anything to do with the brand (although there are better movements available in both quartz and automatic). It's simply a matter of engineering. The downside is the quartz requires a battery.

Can laugh all you wish but the Korth is the finest revolver I have ever fired or seen, although I don't personally like revolvers, comparing the Korth to say a Colt is like comparing a Rolex to a Timex.
The Korth Combat is usually selling at $5500 every place I have seen it recently. Although the MSRP is $6800.

The Target version is around $7000

if those Germans are so good at revolvers... maybe my Rohm... isn't so bad after all...;)

personally I'm not a BMW kinda guy... I own a couple Dodge trucks...

... those Rugers are just fine by me...

It takes 2-3 months to make one gun? What nonsense! If that gun sells for $6000, and the company gets $3000 of that (unlikely), that is $1000 a month. Now if they have only a President, a VP and one secretary, that won't cover the salaries. Or have anyone actually making the guns.

I have no doubt the Korth guns are good (I have seen only one and didn't have a chance to really check it out), but it seems to me their US rep is missing a few cards out of his deck.
