Smith & Wesson Model 19

I just picked one up for 350 here (central ky.) Cheapest one I've seen in quite some time, most of them sell for over 5 bills in this area. It's not pristine, but it's not a beater either. I'm only keeping it for home protection anyway. I've had 2 in the past and I just like 'em. Could anyone date it for me? It's a 19-3, serial # 2K4xxxx. I almost bought a police trade in 66, stainless for 450, but I like blued guns. Guy here had about 10 of those police trade ins. Anyone have an opinion on why these are selling so high? I go to the local flea market once or twice a month and the horse traders there are asking ungodly money for smith's, as do most of the local shops.
 
People are afraid that obama will get a second term. People are buying guns, ammo and reloading components like crazy.
I'd like a 66 if I could get one in decent shape. I like my guns made of steel not plastic.
