Smith & Wesson Model 19

I also bought one last week (4") 19-3 model for $400 in local sale.

The grips are mine from another gun.

I'm not overly fond of the .357 Mag cartridge,,,

But I do love a 4" K-frame revolver.

I would buy one if a good deal fell into my lap,,,
But it's not a gun I will ever go looking for.

Dang but it's a pretty gun though,,,
Shrouded lug barrel,,,
Just pretty!

Nice buy at $400.00,,,
Around here it would go for much more.

Nice catch my friend,,,
Nice catch indeed.

You just have to be lucky, and one of the first to make contact.
It was listed on a local guntrader sight. I emailed the seller, he got back to me, and we met later after he got off work.
Along with the gun, I also bought about 85 rounds of 357 Federal Hydro-Shok self defense ammo for another $25.
I don't get lucky that often, so it's xtra nice when I do.

Don't mean to hijack Iron Man..... looking forward to your pics being posted.
I always enjoy looking at Smith's.

Awesome gun FL Guy. I got my 19-4 for about $350 and my 66-2 for about the same but that was many many moons ago. As the prices have been climbing lately, I'd say you got an awesome deal!

S&W model 19 4" .357magnum...

I owned a used S&W model 19 revolver in the mid 2000s briefly.
It was okay. I liked the target type trigger & smooth DA action but the size & weight were a bit much concealed, :(.

A semi auto in .357sig or .40S&W makes a lot more sense in 2012, ;).

Now why would you post such a thing on the revolver forum? Yes it is 2012 and yes the semi-auto design has some advantages over the revolver, but this seems like you want to start something. You know that folks on this forum are fans of revolvers.

True, but...

That may be true, but for the size & weight, a model 19 6 shooter may not be a better choice than a high tech P229 .357sig or Glock 23 .40.

Wheel-guns are okay but today's gunners need to move forward, like it or not.

I have three handguns for duty and CCW. A Glock 19, Glock 26 and a Smith & Wesson Model 49. I'll be the first to acknowledge that pistols are faster to reload, easier to carry concealed and have a higher ammo capacity. I also shoot pistols very well. But nobody on this thread were even talking about carrying the Model 19 CCW. It wasn't part of the topic.

Incidentally I've known a few guys in the past who have carried revolvers all their lives and they are very fast and accurate with them. They didn't seem to be at a disadvantage with their revolvers - not one iota. They like the six-shooters, they're competent with them and I don't see why they should have to move forward if they don't want to.

The model 19 is about the perfect combination of size and weight for 36 calibre guns. It is also IMHO the finest gun S&W ever made. Congrats on a fine gun at a great price.

of course you know...

you can't get just one...

I often carry a Model 19-4 2.5", and feel quite well armed with it. This, in spite of the fact that I am also a Glock owner/carrier. Most of the time, it it my HD piece.
