Sometimes photos will help of the firearm and its serial number.
I've come across folks who didn't see a letter within a serial number; mis-count how many total digits; not see a stamped model number; or mistake a manufacturing number for a serial number. mistake the firearm for a different size or model.
Regarding the "book", it seems the authors published what info they had at the time and admitted the info could be incomplete, short of erroneous.
Perhaps a 41xxx s/n could be somewhere between 1953-1955, but I'm no expert and didn't write the book.
