Great Grandpa's .38

just came across my wife's Great Grandpa's S&W .38, and I am looking for a little information on it. Serial Number is 775763, and also has an S and a V stamped on the bottom. Any Information would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Help please.

I'm hoping someone can help me find the year my S&W was made. It is a .38 S&W SPL Model 10-7, Under the model # it has what looks like C15 then 93994, on the base of the handle it has AEP1631. I have always been curious, and just recently inherited It due to my father passing away. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Thanks Jim

Your help is very much appreciated. Like sevenpoint said, we didn't shop together. I just inherited my Model 66 a few days ago from my father.

first is Serial J7902** and the second is 429***.
J7902xx = 1981
429xxx = ~1965

I think it's a S&W model 3, 38 S&W cal. Serial 291xx
You have a .38 Safety Hammerless 2nd. Model.
Serial numbers ran from 5251 in 1887 to 42483 in 1890.

Serial Number is 775763, and also has an S and a V stamped on the bottom.
It's a 38 Military & Police "Victory" model made late 1944 to very early 1945. The V stood for victory and the S for the new hammer block started in Dec 1944 at SN SV769001.
The caliber could be 38 special or 38 S&W. The 38 S&W chambered guns were sent to Europe for the British Military.

on the base of the handle it has AEP1631.
1984.

smith & Wesson Model 19

I could spend the next several weeks searching this thread to find the info, so sorry if it is here somewhere.

Mfg date for a Model 19 no dash serial number K3624XX

Based on Wiki I think around 1957. Am I right?

Thanks in advance

Wiki must have old info then, it showed 1959 as the beginning of model 19-1

Yes, SCSW shows that as well, but I don't think that necessarily means they started making 19-1s on January 1 of that year. The serial number range for 1959 was K350548 to K386804, so your gun was apparently toward the beginning of the year, when they presumably were still making 19s. The change that's the difference between the 19 and the 19-1, by the way, is the threading of the extractor rod - right-hand vs. left-hand, respectively.

Hello every one I am new to this site I own a few hand guns but I was wondering about a s&w 657 3 inch barrel 41 magnum serial# ANN0xxx that I had purchased used back in 1994, some one tould me that it was a collectors item, and I wonder if any one have any information about it and how much is worth, I try searching for it but came out empty, I might sell it to get comething smaller for conceal. Thanks for your help..

I was wondering about a s&w 657 3 inch barrel 41 magnum serial# ANN0xxx

The tabulation in SCSW get a little mixed up around the ANN prefix, but it appears that the gun was made in 1986. That would also be consistent with a run of 3" barrel, round butt configurations, product code 103951, made in that year.

With regard to the "collectors item" part, the term of course means different things to different people. There's no mention in the book of that model, or the somewhat unusual 3" barrel version, as being notably collectible, but I'm sure many folks out there (including me) would be happy to "collect" one. :) I think the gun would likely bring $650 or so around here (Massachusetts).
