Hi all,I have been wondering what year my S&W was made. I think it is a M&P but I am not sure. It has a 4" Brl ans has .38 Spl Ctg on it. Ser # S9356xx. I can post a pic if you need one..Thanks
Uh, no. What you have is a Pre war .38 Military and Police (k frame).Pre-model-number N Frame produced in 1952-1953.
Serial numbers ran from D659902 in 1974 to D750000 in 1975.I just found a model 10-5 yesterday. The ser# is D696XXX . Can anyone help me out to find the approximate age of it?
Also, it is my understanding that all -5 models should be okay for +P rated factory loads, is this correct?
It is a K-22 Masterpiece made in 1948. They went on to become the model 17 when S&W began assigning model numbers ~1957.but on the cylinder face and on the butt is K 68XXX.

The 5 screw ended ~1955 for K frames.
