Smith and Wesson M&P 15

My Smith and Wesson M&P15A had a terrible trigger from the factory.
Way too heavy although it did break clean and was smooth. But I swear to you it seemed like it had a 13 pound trigger.
It made the trigger on my century ak (the tapco g2) seem like a match grade trigger.

my Magpul edition MP15 from G and R Tactical has been flawless! $899 to my door about a year and a half ago. Eotech 512 up top and a Magpul MS2 sling. In my research it was very much upper middle when it came to quality. It fits my needs perfectly.

I will say if I had it to do over again I would most likely go with a Daniel Defense. Slightly higher quality for not much more.

The 2010 spec trigger pull per their catalog is 7lbs +/-. Both my OR and MOE feel about that weight. They are a bit on the heavy side but they break cleanly. I prefer the Geiselle SSA on my LaRue OBR for target shooting, but the M&P trigger is okay for everything else.

Sounds like Zerodefect sure got some bad piston ones, which I hate to hear, but the DI models have been good in my experience.

There are good deals out there, too, such as the CDNN and the periodic S&W rebates already mentioned.

Yea; if I was going to spend the $900 on an M&P15, I'd definitely look at a Colt 6520 or a BCM. I can get both of those for $900. But I got my M&P15-OR for $649. No way was I going to better "Bang for the Buck". I simply had to make up my mind that I would be patient. That's the problem with many of the people who buy the Bushmasters for $1000+. They were impatient. There's no Bushmaster worth that much. Not compared to an LMT, Colt, BCM, Daniel, etc... for about the same price. Same with the others. If you can get a Bush, Rock, DPMS, etc... for the $650-$750 range, it's definitely a good deal for the average shooter. But if you're a competition shooter, marksman, shoot 5,000-10,000 rounds a year,,,, or you're impatient and are going to pay $900-$1100 for these guns, then you'd be much better off buying the higher quality rifles.

The M&P15 is definitely in the upper tier, but just not the top. For the same price, I'd buy the Colt, LMT, BCM, etc... For $650-$800, you can't find a better AR for the money. M&P15's can be found for under $800. If you can be patient, you'll find them. If you can't be patient, then take the same $900 you were going to spend on it and order a Colt. If you're TOO Impatient and don't want to order;..... We'll you get what you get. It will still be a fine weapon, just too expensive for what you got. The $799 for the one at CDNN is an excellent price. And if another S&W rebate comes about; which one will soon, they always do; another $100 for the M&P15 will make it a fantastic price.
