i'd like to get a steel frame/steel slide sig in 9mm, and preferably one smaller than my p2022

at first i thought the 239 was a good option, but i believe it has an alloy frame

does sig offer any compact or smaller nines with steel frames/slides?

thanks guys

There's no P239 HD?

does HD indicate a steel model?

i couldn't find any information about a P239 HD

i see that they make a compact 1911 with a steel frame, and a few compacts in .38 with steel frames, but i'm not seeing much in the way of 9mms with steel frames

i find the sig site a bit difficult to use for this question unfortunately

on most models, they only list the frame/slide finish, not the material

If you click on the picture of the pistol under each pistol series, a page opens with that specific model gun.

Under each model is a tab labeled "Download PDF." If you click on that tab, a PDF is available that gives the complete specifications of the pistol, including the frame and slide material.

Hopefully, that's not too difficult for you...

zing?

anyway, too bad that's not just displayed on the respective weapons' pages

you have any suggestions, or know of anything fitting the bill i'm describing?

How about the Sig P938?

Its a micro 1911. My wife has the P238 in .380.

Most Sigs are alloy frames with stainless steel slides these days. There are a few all steel options but not many. P220 ST, P226 ST, P229 Elite Stainless etc but none of the smaller guns are all steel.

There was talk about a P225A stainless as sigarms228 mentioned but the P225A alloy has not been flying off the shelves so I doubt that they will be making the ST version anytime soon.

Last year there was information from some sources that the new P225A would have a version that was all stainless but have not seen any more on that for a while.

interesting, i'll look into that

i wish there were more options

You need to do your own research. It's not that difficult unless you're just too lazy to download PDF's.

lol go be a brat elsewhere

there are a lot of people on here who are not only well informed on these things but also cordial and willing to help/advise people who are looking to learn more

i've had good experiences and received useful feedback on this message board (which is, i believe, the desired function of a message board) and i thought throwing out some parameters and asking for some suggestions would make for a pretty standard topic, and certainly be more effective than downloading pdf files for every pistol manufactured by sig

beyond that, this place has always struck me as a friendly environment, where people can not only learn but share fun, pleasant conversations, so in that regard also it seemed like a reasonable idea

anyway, i greatly appreciate the folks who have tried to help me in this discussion, and if that's not your aim here, perhaps you should find a different thread

I see, so you run the Internet and decide what people can or can't post?

I guess I'm baffled as to why you couldn't do your own research - it's not that difficult.

well, you see wrong, as i said nothing of the sort

you can post whatever you like here, and i can't do much about it

but i'm interested in discussing options for a compact steel framed sig in 9mm, was having a hard time finding them, and decided to ask some folks who would likely know better than i would, and i've gotten some good responses

i was just questioning the utility of your admonishing a thread's author to essentially just leave the board and find everything out on their own without the useful filter of an educated community to guide them

most forums probably wouldn't survive long if such was a standard response

Gentlemen, let's relax. It's a Sat for most of us, enjoy the day.

To buckhorn's defense, a lot of times we get questions here that could be answered by a search on google or a visit to the manufacturer's website. This can happen a lot and after a while can get a bit tiresome. That said, you're right that we should support the members and allow conversation.

Basically, it's the end of Crimson Tide.

word

anyway, i had done quite a lot of looking on my own

went to a few stores and looked through what they had there

ran google searches for what i was looking for

and spent some time on the sig site looking at charts and other specs

when this didn't yield the desired result, i came here

I'm not sure that "HD" specifically means steel frame in every case, but Sig makes three versions of a P238 HD which is a slightly smaller P938 but in .380 acp and it has both a stainless slide and frame. In this year's catalog (and, I believe last year's) they have shown a P938 HD which is a very small single action 9mm pistol with a stainless frame that could be just what thou seek. It has never showed up on their website. Unfortunately, though many have expressed their interest on various forums, particularly Sig Talk, the company has apparently never produced one - yet, at least. I will buy on as soon as I find one, if they make it. Keep your eyes and ears open. It may yet appear. ;)

BTW, welcome. This is a good forum. There are many good forums full of good people.
