The standard non +P fly swatter with handle and shaft, made with a twisted painted pair of #15 steel wire gauge [0.076"], will deflect 4" with 1 pound of force at the business end.
The fishing pole handle fly swatter with fiber glass tube 0.418" tapering to 0.402" will deflect 1/4" in the same test.
This make the fishing pole fly swatter 16 times stiffer than the old wire handle swatter.
I swatted at flies hundreds of times with the old swatter, and the new one is:
1) loud when it hits the wall [wear ear protection]
2) fast. I can bat flies out of the air
3) explosive. Pieces of the fly and fly guts spray outward [wear eye protection]
