SKEET shooting with a "COMBAT" shotgun.

Ok, that's what I'll do. I confess: I primarily just liked the neostead's aesthetics -- and most shotguns, while fun to shoot, don't have a "look" I like. On the other hand, I can't stand the thought of buying a gun I can't use for *something*. So I'll probably just keep my eye open for the Neostead if it ever hits market, and then use it primarily for shooting skeet and playing Walter Mitty.

10-4, message understood, but....

Meanwhile, there's tons of fun at the range. ALl you need is a commonly available shotgun, some ammo, eye and ear protection, and a bit of cash for range time. Go have fun and get ready for that fancy schmancy South African shotgun(G)...

Scouter, 8200..most fun I ever had with a shotgun was with a box of skeet and a 18in. Mossberg A500 w/ a top folder pistol grip. I had fitted the shotgun in such a way to make a handy throw-about camping gun. space can get kinda cramped for a week long canoe trip down the congaree river, camping on the sandbars in the evenings. Somehow I had managed to find room for a case of #8 and a case of skeet..my camping budy wasnt to happy to know he had been padeling an "unnecisary" 50 pounds. Fish werent biting and my budy was napping in the tent, so I desided to try busting some hand thrown skeet with the stock folded down. Tossing the skeet with my right hand , tom knap style, then grabing the pistol grip and shooting the skeet as it paused at the peek of my throw from the hip was alot easier than I thought. Caught the rythem pretty quick and ended up missing about 10-12 out of the whole case. Even drilled a few doubles. I probly couldnt do it again on a bet, but I just hit a rythem and kept going. I'll tell you one thing, the guys that were fishing across the river, stoped fishing (a big deal on the Congaree when the Striper are running) and watched the whole thing. Must have thought I was some kind of dead-eye for shure. Funny what you can manage to pul off when your just bored and playing around. Try those kinds of stunts at a match...

if you're goona shoot skeet with a battle shotgun--do it the way i do on occasion--Mossy 590 with bayonet and old WWII steel pot headgear--bayonet gives you several advantages-----makes for good followthrough/ don't need gunrack-just stick shotgun in the ground/last but not least--nobody argues if you call a lost target.....Dick

I shoot skeet with the only two shotguns I have -
a Springfield side by side 20" 12 gauge and a Beretta 1201 FP riot gun with 20" bbl also in 12 gauge. Both guns have cylinder bore. My fellow shooters always show great interest in my equipment as most have imported Over and Unders. It is a blast as I can really shoot well with my SXS especially. That is, when I'm on! :(

I am using my Mossberg 20" Persuader mainly for trap and skeet. I am having a great deal of fun.

People at the gun club have been extremely nice to my wife and myself as well.

I can't miss a pigeon with my 18" cylinder bore 870 Wingmaster. It's got the Remington folding stock/pistol grip, and a Remington 7-shot extension.

I get a few chuckles from bystanders until they see pigeon after pigeon turn to dust. Then it's, "hey, can I try that gun?"

;)

i don't remember which stirred up the most dust at the range--Was it the bayonetted 590 or the Rem 1100 with 28" barrel and 15 shot extension.......Just after i got the extension working good IPSC changed the rules and it won't leagal no more for competition.....Sh#t happens........Dick

Just shot a 9 and a 15 for my 1st and 2nd time shooting skeet with my Mossy500A 20"bbl.

Tons of fun. I am still looking for a nice O/U but that will wait till I have more money.

Combat Skeet shooting is great. Im going again this weekend. :D
