Resizing the case isn't necessary to reload 22LR. You'd just be wasting your time and efforts. But that's your choice.

Resizing isn't necessary if you will be shooting the reloads through the same firearm they were shot in the first time. Other than that, it's a crap shoot. I have a .22LR cowboy style revolver that will not chamber any cases fired in any of my 1911 conversions or that were fired in my Marlin rifle. If you want to be able to shoot the reloaded ammunition in any firearm you own, you do have to resize.
