Have you tried a Ruger SR9?
Yeah, it's a double stack, but it's about the same thickness as a lot of single stacks.
Or maybe a good ole' High Power - very slim.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt the Shield...

Bullet proof reliability, accuracy, and a great price to boot.

All that without mentioning designed and built by Americans, right here in America.

God Bless America.

Sorry you didn't care for the lc9s pro. I have settled into this weapon completely as my go-to CCW, 95% of time, when I don't opt for larger caliber/capacity gun. To me, the only other thing I'd change is the addition of nights sights. I put the hogue handball jr grip on and trimmed about 1/16" off in a couple places and perfect! So concealable by being small, light, and smooth edged.

For reference, in this single stack CCW 9mm class, I have xds, g43, Kahr cm40, shield, sig p290rs, and sig p938. If my Kahr was a 9mm and I could deal with long trigger, that would be close second. For now, second place goes to p938. Would prob be first if beaver tail didn't print slightly with t-shirts and grind into my love handle a bit when driving. I really wanted the g43 to be my CCW but just a bit to bulky, edgewise, in comparison to lc9s.

Good luck in your search.

Holy Cow, there's a lot of great suggestions in here. Let me address some of the questions asked:

You could just put a Talon grip over the CM9.

Yes, I could, and I put a houge handall jr grip on my cm9 when I had it the first time. My problem was the grip started moving around on me, and I didn't feel like I had a sure grip. In addition, I would rather try to find something that works well for me as it was designed, rather than something I can get and then add to it to make it work well. Just a preference for this gun, if I can.

The Kahr CM9 is probably one of my favorite subcompact 9mms, and I'd also suggest Talon Grips (or a bike inner tube) if you hated the cheese grater grip. I had a CW45 and it didn't bother me, but my wife was not a fan at all.

See my comment above on the Talon grips/inner tube preference.

I had a CW9, and the grip is much less aggressive, but I'm a little, dare I say it, gun shy after the front sight came off the gun 2 times in a month.

I voted for Kahr because that's the only one of those listed that I have fired but I don't remember which model it was. It was all-steel, though. I like the double-action only feature. But for what it's worth, I don't own a pistol that meets the criteria. So I guess that says something.

I think the only Kahr pistols made in steel were the K and the MK series, which is one of my poll options, unless it was an older model I have never heard of, which is also possible.

I have the doube stack CC pistol covered- CZ 75BD and CZ 75 PCR- but thanks for the suggestion.

SIG P239.

Nice suggestion, but a little more than I wanna pay, since the cheapest one I can find is $550 from a private individual plus shipping, plus transfer. Nice looking piece, though.

I find the XDS to be a very handy belt gun, with the extended magazine.

AFAIK, all the Sccy guns are double stack, clones/developments of the Kel Tec P11.

You're right, I goofed with the Sccy addition. I wasn't at my best, especially since I forgot the dad blasted G43 in the list.

Just to save other people the trouble, I counted 10 people suggesting the G43, and 11 votes on the shield. They are the front runners at this point.

I have done some searching around, and found a guy locally who is selling his g43 for 425. If I can get him to come down to my price point, or can add in some trade or even find a few more pennies from my couch, I just might bite the bullet.

I have also been pricing the shield, and best prices I can find are NIB from Buds. We'll see what happens.

I chose Kahr K9, but on 2nd thought, I would much prefer the P9.

I have a P40. It is a great carry gun. Small, light, reliable, powerful and just easy to shoot.

I've owned the LC9 (original model) and still own the Shield NTS. The Ruger tended to twist around in my hand where the Shield is rock solid. It just plain fits my hand better. I've found that the trigger has improved with use as well.
The only improvement I've considered is a good set of night sights.

Those are the best two options. Try them both out and see which fits your needs best. $425 for the g43 is about the lowest I have ever heard of to non leo so I doubt you will see it cheaper. I mean Ive seen it for $415 on buds but then you have shipping/FFL fees. I was just at a gun show and the cheapest there was $445. Most of my local shops sell it for $500. The shield is much cheaper so if cost is a concern than go with the shield. Either way you are getting the best in that category. Only other one I would really consider is the sig but its way too expensive. I really like glocks and really like the g43 but I think the shield has it beat, especially when price is a concern.

For you guys who voted for the PPS, it looks like the baseplate for the mags are awfully big. Are they as cumbersome as they look for carrying extra mags, or is it just me?
I have a PPS with both 7 and 8 round magazines. The 7 positively disappears while giving me a full grip, the 8 is a bit longer but doesn't dangle. One of the reasons I picked up the PPS was that the 9 round magazine of my XD-S is long enough to make concealment a question. It projects just enough and is just angular enough that it doesn't look like a shirt fold.

I like my XDS9, but if you don't like aggressive checkering, it's not for you.
I like the XDS9 trigger. The PPS starts off a little gritty, but that smooths out (some) over time. I am carrying my PPS now. I like the fiber optic front sight of the XDS, but the big white three dots of the PPS is also easy to see. The XDS is in the safe right now.

My XDS hasn't failed to fire/eject for several hundred rounds; I shot a competition once with the XDS and it worked fine while several other competitors with "race guns" were high centered on jams and stovepipes several times. The PPS has only a hundred+ through it, and I've not yet taken it to a shoot, but has been equally robust thusfar (IMO: not that far, in the grand scheme of things).

Either would be a good choice functionality-wise.

Too bad the LC9 family is a bad fit for you. I never could warm up to the trigger on the original LC9, but my LC9S Pro is much better. It shoots about as well for me as a full sized gun at 10 yards.
