Single shot big bore handguns

Sent the check now.
Happened to be at my LGS today. Decided to ask about handgun scopes.
He indicated just under $400 is the bottom for scopes that will hold up to 460 or even 454 loads. Agree?
I was hoping I could get a fixed 2x for a bit less.

I bought my Encore pistol 45lc/410 a few weeks ago but have not shot it yet. I ordered a MGM .223 barrel and in the future I am planning to get a .44 magnum or maybe a .460 for it.

I must be hunting a different species of whitetail deer. I've managed
to take somewhere around 60-70 deer and most of them with the
lowly .243 Winchester. Magnum calibers (handgun or rifle) are not
necessary for whitetail deer and in my opinion most deer hunters
can't shoot magnums well enough to humanely take deer. Why?
They don't shoot enough to be proficient.

In many areas you wouldn't be shooting any deer with your .243, lowly or not. It's shotgun or straightwall only. I can't imagine hunting anything I can't kill with my 357max, but many times I had that .444 marlin in the field and was comforted by the margin of error it gave me. The .460 is a very useful cartridge in the hunting arena, especially if you have any ideas of going after bigger game than whitetail.

As Okie said, 243 is not an option for me. 460 would not be my first choice if all cartridges were on the table.

460 seems to give me a pretty wide range of ballistic characteristic with different loads from 45 colt to the 460. 500 sw cant shoot the light bullets well an 44 mag can't be used on some game I would like to hunt down the road. I imagine there are even sabbotted rounds out there somewhere.

I can load to go after pretty much any game in the world.

John, I don't know if you saw my earlier post. An Encore barrel chambered in .444 Marlin would also be an excellent choice for you. Not quite as hot as the .460 but it is more managable (and doesn't have some of the ammo pickinesss that the .460 is known for).
