Single action Rugers Love em or hate em?

G'day I'm a shooter from down under & I have a real weakness for Ruger single actions. I like to think of it as a harmless adiction....I have two super blackhawkes in .44mag & a single six with another on it's way. But I seem to take a fair amount of ribbing that I choose single actions over double or semi autos!(I'm glad to report the last firearm restrictions did'nt harm us as badly as people have made out) I do own a 686 S&W but am considering trading it in on a 357 ruger black hawke. I'm wondering about everybody elses opions

Welcome to the board. I like the BH's and have a couple of them. I find these very good sixguns. The problem I have with them is they aren't as easy on skin as say a DA S&W sixgun.

I have a Blackhawk I bought over 30 years ago. I've fired every kind of ammo known to man through this revolver, tens of thousands of rounds, without a single misfire or problem. The forcing cone is so eroded it looks like ground cheese. Still accurate, still works perfectly.

My best purchase so far this year has been the 50th Anniversary Blackhawk (flattop). What a wonderful gun. The steel gripframe really makes it a sweet gun to shoot. Everybody who shoots mine walks away wanting to buy one. I'll buy more of them myself if Ruger will add them to the catalog in other calibers. Especially .41 Special and .44 Special. Even 44/40 would be nice.

The line forms here!

I love my Superblackhawk! Super accurate and super reliable. I think it looks great in stainless with a 7.5 inch barrel too. Hot loads? Bring em on!

I own a stainless steel Ruger Blackhawk in .357 magnum. Lots of fun. I like that revolver. I'm a S&W man, but I own two Ruger wheelguns (GP 100 and Blackhawk) and I like both of them.

Can't say if I would trade the 686 or not, but I sure do like the Ruger SAs.
Here are four of mine along with a Uberti Thunderer convertible(far right) in 45ACP/45Colt. The Old Army(far left) is an interesting piece and truly a smokey blast to shoot. The one next to it is my favorite, it is a Buckeye Blackhawk convertible(2nd from left) chambered in 38-40Win and 10MM auto. Personally I will give about any Ruger SA a second or even third look when I find used ones for sale. If your not already familiar with it this site is great for Ruger fans.

I'm pretty much a S&W revolver guy and collect them at every chance I get. However, I have a BIG weak spot for Ruger Single Six's. Got 4 in the safe right now ;)

I love my Super Blackhawk , my father told me not to get a SA but I just could not help it ...when I held it in my hands the warm feeling.....oh well you know what I am talking about...................
this one is from 1973, no work done on it, it is original....only carry 5 in it.

I have three Blackhawks two .357 one blued one SS and a .45ACP/.45COLT converstion and soon a SBH in .44mag.I think they are a great gun and plain fun to shoot. :D

Don't overlook Ruger's single action Bisleys. The 44mag handles like a .357. Accurate and easy to shoot. I wish Ruger made cars. You could buy one when you're young and drive it until you retire  .

i had one once...

they are built really good and will last longer than you. good guns. mine was 22/22mag. it was a blast to shoot :p :p my dad has it now. I traded him for his 9mm pistol. :)

I love my single six...

My dad bought it when I was a kid. He gave it to me when I moved out. That was 20 years ago. I still have it and shoot it. Great gun!

I had a Smith 25-5, but I started to get paranoid about shooting heavier loads in it, so I sold it and bought a 5 1/2" Blackhawk in .45 Colt. I liked it so much that I bought another one, in stainless. Very nice guns.

Thanks for backing up what I firmly belive! You Blokes :) I started out with a super BH in the 7 1/2 Stainless & it started an adiction  When our beloved Gov( :barf: ) decided to buy back handguns. My local Gun guy (who has vowed to keep me in poverty) Pointed out a Blued Super BH 7 1/2 also in .44mag.Which unless it got a good home was going in to be put under the Press! !!!! Now being a firm beliver in non cruelty to firearms I could'nt help myself & brought it home!
Now my problems had just begune I put them in the safe together& (well I tried to convine my wife of this ) They bred & the result was a single six!now there is another on the way! But what worries me is a neverending dream in which I can't be truley happy until I have a 41mag in BH
