I'd be much more concerned with how well the person shoots it, and what comes out the front end. All house defense guns are not created equal.
A friend of mine feels COMPLETELY CONFIDENT in his double barrel 450 N.E. 2, with 480 grain softpoints at 2200 fps. He can also shoot it very well.
I'd rather have a SA 45 Colt then a mousegun. I'd feel just fine with a 260 grain 45 colt at 1450, or, a 200-240 grain 45 colt at 1200+. Most gun fights are done in 4-5 shots.
Somebody had some criminal interviewed about his reaction to police. If he saw a 38 he wasn't worried. Figured the guy shot it at qualifying only.
If he saw a 357, he figured the same, but, the round would give him a second thought.
If he saw either a SA, 41, or 44, or a 1911, he would put his arms in the air, and carefully lay his weapon down, figuring the guy was a shooter, and, since he got his ammo free, was probably better then he was.
If he heard the ratchet of a 12 gauge, he DOVE for the ground.
Wonder what the reaction would be to a 458 win mag, or double 450 NE 2?
