Silvertips vs Ranger LE price = quality?

I don't think they want you to know...
The RANGER ammo is a remake of the old BLACK TALON and is restricted
to Police and Security personnel
Nonsense. It only says that on the box..
Ranger-T is based on the Black Talon bullet design, except reengineered to expand with greater reliability, and after encountering a wider range of obstacles. It's coated with gold Lubalox instead of the evil black color to appease the liberal PC Nazis.

10mm Silvertips have not been discontinued

I use the SilverTips in 10mm. I think they hit on a good combination in that round...plus, very few other ammo manufacturers offer many modern choices in 10mm.

Very possibly, the same condition exists for .41 Mag (which I also own, but do not carry).

For .45 acp and 9mm, I am very satisfied with the Ranger ammo.

That said, when my current stock is depleted I will be looking at HST.

Total BS, and somewhat of a marketing ploy. There is no law forbidding sale to civilians. I have seen a few mail order distributors "play the game", but plenty of it is available at gun shows without restriction.

That link is for 180 grain FMJ. I thought we were talking about SD ammo?

The Ranger-T is one of many Winchester lines which also include the Supreme SXT and Platinum Tip that are based upon the old Black Talon. They are not, however, exactly the same as Rangers have gone through at least a couple of redesigns over the years.

Also, there is not law that I am aware of restricting the sale, posession, or use of Ranger ammo to non-LEO. Winchester markets Rangers only to law enforcement and discourages their distributors from selling them to the public at large, but there is no formal regulation against it just like there is not now nor was there ever a law banning the original Black Talons (Winchester voluntarily pulled them off the market due to bad PR).

I cannot over stress enough that if you want accurate ballistic information you should go right to YouTube and type in the search bar-ballisitic video and what caliber you want.

There are some people onthere who are putting up unbelievably detailed videos showing probably the exact rounds you want to buy, often shot out of the exact gun you may own.

There are some clowns on there too,to be sure, but there are some people doing some really great ballistic information videos on YouTube.

You should check YouTube out.

One such person is tnoutdoors9.

He has his own channel there and his ballistic video's are really well made.

One of his videos really made me rethink the 9mm and see that if you want to use any round, you need reworld testing that proves it works.

tnoutdoors9 actually carries a 9mm as his ccw so he uses rounds he's already proven work in his gun ballistically.

Ditto the TNoutdoors9 videos. He's a neighbor/friend of Hickok45, by the way.

And I'll save you the trouble... the 155 Gr. HST Gov't contract ammo in .40 and Winchester .40 165 or 180 grain rounds, or Speer Gold Dot's in same weights are very good. You can get a good deal on them at www.sgammo.com , and also mahsupplies.net
