sighting my GP 100

"....and I remember the day we used lampblack on the front sight."

Ah, the old acetylene-fueled sight smokers...

Those were great especially if you were dealing with barrel reflection hitting the front sight blade. There were times when I couldn't tell where the barrel ended and the sight began the reflection was so bad. A few moments with a sight smoker made that a lot better.

Fwiw, I just replaced the factory sights on my gp with a set of Williams fire sights. A little pricey for the set to me, but well worth it. Good luck on finding what works best for you.

" I can use bright nail polish on the front sight, but that doesn't seem right. "

OK, I give up. Why? Nail polish is available in a zillion shades, including flourescent, is easy to apply and easy to remove. It sticks better than Witeout and is easier to remove than paint.

The ONLY thing I've done to my newest GP is buy that $16 red insert front sight blade replacement & stick it on.
World of difference, and takes almost a whole minute.

I'm another one that uses nail polish...............it's cheap/ tons of different colors/plus it holds of well and even if you do need a touch up.........................it only take a minute or so too reapply and be dry enough to use the gun.:D

the white out comes off with warm water. The nail polish with polish remover but that can take off the finish. I like the idea of that inexpensive red sight.
Thanks. This one got a ton of advice.
I'm glad that almost "EVERYONE" realizes that I am a complete novice about
guns and things and that when asking a question I really have no idea what's right or wrong.

So I'll go with the old adage, "ask a thousand and one questions, just don't ask the same one twice".
