Sight Paint???

...a color for your front sight

What you need to do is find out what color is DOMINANT for your eyes.
What color catches your eye, first? With the answer you are half way home.
You can use "Hobby Shop" Paint or Finger nail Polish.

I use Testers brand model airplane paint.

Yep. I prefer gold myself.

After watching Jerry Miculek''s Ultimate Advanced Revolver, I decided to try gold paint when he pointed out that most folks find that gold bead front sights to work well against a large variety of backgrounds in many different lighting conditions. I have found this to be true for myself as well on my S&W 642.

The paint is cheap, so you can buy a few different colors to try out. It does have to be touched up frequently (every couple of weeks).

i took a toothpick and had nice sights in 5 minutes. red in the front, lime green in the back. brightest I could find of each

i borrow some of the wifes white nail polish with metalic flake (she has a gold or a silver flake) and then hit them with clear afterwards.

on an AK i have the front site was almost invisible then added the white with gold flake to the front and the white with silver to the rear (dots on the rear) and it was like a whole new set of sights with super fast acquisition of front sight on target.

"White Out" typewriter correction fluid has worked well for my for 25 years. I like two things about it
1. It's cheap and dead flat, reflecting virtually no light...most paint that I've tried has glare which is counterproductive to accuracy. White out also works well if you hunt with iron sighted rifles....Makes that front sight jump right out at you at dusk or dawn.

2. You can get rid of the white out by chipping it off with a finger nail if for any reason you want black sights again. It even works on S&W's red plastic inserts on the big Magnums. I find that the red insert just reflects glare from the sky in actual woods use. White out shows up well against squirrel or deer hair too.

Sight paint

Hi, My wife bought Me this fabric paint from Jo-Anne Fabrics and it's now on all the front sights of the weapons I have that could use it. Aplies easily right from the bottle . Color kind of washed out a little in the photo as both colors are very flourescent ! I am sure it is inexpensive as My wife is in no way interested in My shooting Hobby LOL ! .........WVleo

WVleo...is that fabric paint flat or shiny on the sight when you apply it? I like white out but my wife sews so..... maybe I can try something new.. Regards, Rodfac

Nail polish has advantages. You can always use that metal-flake lavender polish on your nails after painting your sights.:D:eek:

Not only did I paint my front sight, but I also painted a "U" shape around the rear groove of my Kel Tec P3AT. The difference was dramatic.

I bought some neon orange, and neon green nail polish. Painted the rears green, and the front orange.....works well and seems to be holding up well so far.

Cost me like $3 at walmart and I have enough to last a lifetime now
