Sig vs Glock

Not the typical which is better thread.

I currently own two P226 and one Glock 26 (sold all the .40's 22, 23, 24c).

I like the Sigs better. The way they feel in my hand, the way they point... the P226 is just the handgun for me. Except I shoot Glocks better. With my little 26 I can shoot a tighter group at 25 yards than I can with either P226. I want to blame the DA/SA trigger. I have done the quarter/washer dry fire drill plenty of times with my Sigs. I have fired thousands of rounds through my older P226. It's not an issue of inexperience or unfamiliarity.

The Glock grip angle has always seemed to steep for me. Even after shooting the 24c in competition for a few years I would always be pointing high after drawing from the holster. I also don't like the mushy half-cock trigger of a Glock. Yet when it comes to putting holes in paper, I have found that the Glock is the best tool for that job.

I know the solution to this is to buy a few more Glocks and get over it. However this goes against the common wisdom of finding the gun that feels best in your hand.

My only Sig is a P226, and my only Glock is a G26. I shoot dang skippy with both.

Might sound stupid but Stephen Stills said it best "Love The One You're With"
or for this instance, shoot the one you shoot best. It is that simple for me.
Don't overthink it. I am in no way an expert but I only carry &/or shoot whatever Revolver or Pistol that works the best for me.
My Pistols are G19 & G43. My Revolver is a 686plus 3" 357 in magnum.

I have very similar feelings to the OP. I have always hated glocks. I mostly hate the people that show up to threads and just post "glock" then disappear again never to be seen, but I have never been partial to any model they've produced. with that said, I typically shoot glocks better than most other makes. I have always loved the P226, and the M11 I shot in the navy pretty much spoiled me for many years to come, but I've never been overly accurate with them, despite the fact that they feel like they were made specifically for me.

I love springfields, Rugers, Caniks, and Sigs above all other makes/models. I will probably never own a glock unless I get a screaming deal on it. it's all a matter of personal taste. no one is better, there is only better suited toward your personal needs. if you needed a competition piece I would say you should probably stick to glock, but otherwise, as long as you can keep those sigs inside minute of badguy groups at personal defense ranges(much closer than 25 yards) then I think you are more than justified to keep the sigs and keep using them.

My take on it is that you go with the gun that suits how it feels best.

If the worst happens, then pure accuracy is not the issue, its how it feels and can you hit a chest size target at 15 yards?

If it becomes a tack driving situation, then you have the time to pull the hammer back and single shoot the Sig.

I won't say its definitive, but many years back I shot a Practical Police Course and aced it (beat out all but 3 people who shot it all the time) And yes I understand its different if someone is shooing at you.

While the revolver was DA, I single shot the course until the last close up point (5 yards?) and then it was DA as that had a short time limit and you could not miss.

What I had gong for me was I shot the same gun in a large caliber, it was comfortable and I shot mine enough in DA to be proficient with it close in.

While you do not count on it, simply being armed is a deterrent, and a round or two may well convince someone to be elsewhere.

Most of my gun carrying was woods travel and mostly it was intended as a noisemaker.

Why the recurrent references to 25+ yards? I shoot enough to know what’s up, and I never see anyone do that. I was in the range Thursday night, and everyone in there with a handgun was shooting at maybe 5, 7, 10, 12 yards, same as ever.

I mean, who shoots a tiny Glock 26 at 25 yards?

I do. I shoot my tiny Glock 26 at 100 yards at a 3/4 size silhouette gong. I go to 25 because that's how far the target holder will go out at the indoor range.

I have 6 Sig P320’s and cant say enough about them. They just work fantastically and are a great carry gun. Thus, if you want a striker fired Sig the 320 just works. Even my .45 version is a great shooter.

I also have owned just about ever P series Sig makes. I like the SAS Gen II versions of the P227 and P229 (in Sig 357).

Stick with Sig.
