Sig Sauer P320 40S&W disappointment

I own two P320s, a compact 9mm and a full-size .45 ACP, and I shot a full-size P320 in .40 S&W on three separate occasions (50 rds of 180 grain FMJ each time).

I have had absolutely no reliability issues with the two pistols I own and had no issues with the 40 caliber P320 rental I shot.

My impression of the full-size P320 .40 could not be more different than yours. Considering that the .40 S&W cartridge tends to have sharper recoil than 9mm Luger or even .45 ACP, I thought the P320 .40 was very pleasant to shoot and quite accurate as well. The forty caliber was actually the first P320 I shot and my good experiences with that pistol prompted me to buy the two I own.

I enjoyed my P229 and P2000 much more in 40SW than the Glock 23. As you said, to each his own.

I'm just not a big proponent of .40S&W, but I understand why service weapons in this caliber are highly regarded by folks who shoot them very well. I still have my Sig P226 .40S&W and I wish I still had my HK USP 40, but I don't miss the .40S&W CZ 75B and the Gen4 Glock 22!

Results of the Glock 22 is satisfactory put 105 rounds of both fmj and different hollow points from Speer to Winchester in both 165 and 180 grain. No failure to eject or feeds.A few cases would eject and hit me on the head and it did shoot to the left so I had to compensate it by shooting more right of the target to get center shots. The recoil felt like a soft 9mm easiest 40 caliber I have ever shot so far runner up would be PX4 compact in 40.This gun will be just used for home and car defense. Glock 30sf I have is what I carry since its the most accurate handgun I have ever shot and it also was flawless in shooting different ammo. Beretta PX4 in my experience is very close to the accuracy of my Glock 30sf so if I see a good deal on a 9mm PX4 compact I will buy a G conversion kit and turn it to decocker only and carry it also.

Setting it to decocker only with the "low profile" kit really works wonders. It eliminates the major complaint some people have with the PX4: those big batwing safety levers that stick way out from both sides of the slide. It's amazing how much thinner the gun seems without them! Besides feel, I also think it flows better with the overall look of the gun.

New to this forum but ran across this thread. Great info in here regarding 40's in general. I currently own a P320 compact in 9mm and its a helluva gun. I have put over 400 rounds thru it and not a single misfeed, jam, or any issue. All i've done is general cleaning. I thought about getting the .40 barrel for it but at the cost of that I might as well go a bit further and just get a new unit. Currently looking at a ruger sr40c or a bersa ultra compact.
But I do love my 320! Since you did buy it used, I'd consider doing a full maintenance on it and just feel it out a bit more. If it still doesnt suit you, you wont loose out if you decide to sell.

My only 40 S&W is a Glock 23. I traded off my G27 for some work on the house.

I usually don't adopt "new guns" or "new designs" until kinks get worked out.

I read a lot of negatives about the P250. Never got one.

The only Sigs I had were excellent, though: P220, P229, and the Legion P229.

I would of done that if I actually liked the gun but I did not it was the worst recoiling and unpleasant to shoot 40 caliber I have ever shot to date.
Exactly like shooting a 642 air-weight with the hottest 38 special +p not what I expected it to feel like
