Sig releasing 15 round P365 mag end of summer

So it looks in the picture for the 365XL that the 15 Rd mag has a spacer. I imagine it would fit, but you'll need a different spacer if you care about that.

Here is the 15 Round Magazine Inserted into the P365.

Sig P365 15 Mag Inserted.jpg

I am not impressed at least on it's fit to a P365.
The 12 Round Magazine contours to the back of the P365 Grip, this baseplate just goes straight down.
There is not even a attempt to contour the baseplate to a P365.

I think that this Magazine was designed for the new P365XL and not really the P365.
Yes it will fit the P365 BUT it was really made for the new XL Grip.

If you notice in the packaging (shown above) there is a Flush fit Floorplate.
I suspect that you purchase this 15 round magazine and you can also convert a existing 12 round magazine to Flush Fit.

We will see..

WOW!
Pretty uncanny that both Glock and Sig come out with 15 round magazines!
Although Sig is coming out with a new P365 Platform and the 15 round magazine.
Glock had the platform just added the 15 Round Mag

Did they both independently come up with this or was there a SPY either at Glock or Sig that told the other..
Hey this is what they are working on next...
Corporate espionage!
Who knows but it seems pretty strange that Sig announces a new XL version and 15 round Magazine and Glock with 15's.

The story about the magazines for Glock was in March.
Sig announces the new XL and 15 Round Magazines in May.
I don't think that Sig could design and get the XL and 15 Round magazine together in 8 weeks.
To be a reaction to Glock.
So did Glock somehow get word that hey Sig is working on a new P365 XL Version and a 15 round magazine.
and Glock went to work on getting 15 round magazines?
Who knows what the inner workings are at gun manufacturers but I'm sure it's big business fer sure!

Not to mention that every Gun Manufacturer wants their next gun to be a runaway hit that the P365 has been... going towards 400,000 P365's sold.

Bottom line too is that the P365 is such a better platform that anything Glock has, (#'s alone show this) that it would take a lot more than 15 round Magazine's to stop the P365 Market dominance right now!

As my Dad would say..."The Plot Thickens!"
Who and What will be the next "Top Dog?"
Especially with the new XL Version coming I do not see a challenger yet...

Well, heading to the "Gun Show" Gonna see what's going on....

Dang, that's fugly. If it gets any uglier it'll be a Glock!

(Lighten up, guys :D )

Probably right about this being made for the XL grip primarily.

If 15 round single stack becomes the new normal, I wonder who will be the first to cram 21 rounds into a G19 size magazine?

Even more things for New Jersey to ban!

How tall is the pistol top to bottom with this installed?

It may have been made for the XL but that specific spacer is only going to work on the P365. They could have put in a bit more effort.

No pics yet of in hand, so no way of knowing.

Since the XL isn't out, I'm assuming those Sig factory 15rnd mags just shipped yesterday are going to fit with no gap.

So the XL with just the 12 rd mag is 4.8" tall and gained 0.5" in height over the standard by making those +2 rds fit flush. With this 15 rd mag it has to be a good bit over 5". I guess it makes sense as a backup mag, but at that height there are a number of options, albeit just slightly thicker. I guess it depends how crucial thickness is for the way a person carries. To me the P365 in it's basic form is very impressive for its size. Adding capacity to it, while I get, doesn't make it as impressive compared to the competition.

Actually the P365 with a 12 round Magazine inserted is 4.6 " tall
So I am thinking that the XL with 12 rounds at 4.8 the .2 difference is the Flush Fit Floorplate of the magazine extending just below the XL Grip.

The 12 rounds in the magazine sit on the floorplate..no rounds go into the baseplate
For the P365 it's just a outer sleeve on the magazine to match the P365 Grip.
For the XL that Baseplate is not needed the lomger XL Grip thus the Flush Floorplate.

"the extra 2mm width is in the flared portion of the mag well; the grip itself isn’t bigger and the new 15-round mags are backward compatible with other P365 pistols."

But since the FCU is modular, I bet we see thinner options. Heck, you could make the XL a regular gripped P365

I'm seeing numbers closer to 4.8" on SigTalk and other sites. Are you measuring to the top of the slide or to the top of the sites? I think the 4.8" is to the top of the sights. I really doubt they would make a flush fit floorplate that would make the pistol taller than what is available on the standard P365.

My 4.6 measurement is from the top of the Slide to the front of the 12 round magazine because the magazine slopes forward.
If I measured to the back of the magazine it is near 4.3

If Sig's measurement includes the Sight then that is the difference.

This is the measurements that you speak of:
Correcting to include sights then the P365 and P365XL are the same Height

Here are specs in order of P365 / P365XL

Length - 5.8 / 6.6
Height - 4.8 (with 12 round magazine & adjusting for Sights) / 4.8
Width - 1.0 / 1.1
Weight - 18.0 / 20.7 (Must be mostly Slide and Barrel)
Capacity - 10-12-15? / 12-15

per Wild Cat Mccane...
the grip itself isn’t bigger

The XL Grip is Longer and .1 Larger in Width
The grip now absorbs what was the 12 round Baseplat to now make it Flush.
From what I heard some complained that with the short grip in the palm the 12 round mag would not fall away.
By lengthening the grip to include the 12 round baseplate and make it flush the magazine will now easily fall away at least that's the idea.

I also think that Sig discovered more people carrying with the 12 round mag rather than the 10 round magazines.
If the 10 round magazines were more popular there would not be a XL Grip.
The flip side is that the XL will never be allowed in a 10 round limit State.
But Sig has a lot of guns that will not be sold in a 10 Round Limit state.

Does anyone think that Sig will end up making a 10 Round Magazine for the P365XL?
Myself I would not be surprised..why let 2 rounds cut them out of the XL experience!

Bottom line too is that the P365 is such a better platform that anything Glock has, (#'s alone show this)

Might want to note that the 365 was introduced 2 YEARS ago..so 'numbers' don't really mean anything until the Glock 43X is 2 years old..

Those pesky 'voluntary' fixes too...hmmm
This is the big “elephant in the room” part of the review. Much has been said about the reliability of the P365 in the months since its release. A number of people including some respected reviewers have indicated that the gun may not be quite ready for prime time, that it was released too early, almost like a “beta version” to be tested by the gun-buying masses.

https://www.concealedcarry.com/gear/sig-p365-review/

So, is the 365 a great gun for some? Yup..so is the Glock 43/43X..but 'such a better platform than anything Glock?"..ahh, nope.

365XL almost seems like a G19..except more $..:)

BTW-Glock is at about the 6.5 MILLION mark sold..so I guess Glock
Bottom line too is that Glock is such a better platform that anything Sig has, (#'s alone show this)

->:):)
The gun manufacturer Sig Sauer fixed its P320 pistol's drop-fire problem for ... Wednesday, June 6, 2018 ... But for several months, the company sold its commercial version of the gun without the fix it had made for the military, ... she filed against Sig Sauer in April, and she has been told she may never walk normally again.

With night sights standard on the P365 and XL, it better cost more than the Glock options...

Flipped, why does the Glock cost so close to the P365 with night sights?
