Sig P320..what say you owners?

Uncle, the trigger. What is the trigger? Why did you change it?

You bullet shooting beta testers must give full reports to the rest of us! :p

It's the Apex Tactical flat faced trigger. I like the feeling of the trigger better, and it moves the LOP forward just a bit. Really makes it more comfortable to me. And as far as Apex triggers go, it's one of the cheapest because it's just the shoe, no springs or other components. Runs about $45 if I remember correctly.

I have it in both my compact and full size guns.

Update. Still no decision, but there is currently a P320, compact medium, in my possession. Chief sent it home with me today. So, here is a brief summary of my initial impressions.

The bore axis isn't as high as pictures make it seem. The pistol is small, feels small. The wife says it feels like a toy. The medium grip is small, but comfortable, if not a little slick. Overall fit and finish is excellent.

Take down is easy. Taking the fcg out is simple and fast. I like the idea, and it seems to be executed very well. Without the fcg in the frame, it takes on a whole new feel of toyishness. The frame is quality, but just has a different feel. I think it has to do with slickness of it.

I ran a magazine of 115g fmj through it as well, from 7 and 15yds. The trigger is different. Light take-up, then a heavy, but short, wall. It breaks fast, but not as light as a Glock or M&P. Reset is short and quick, with an audible click. It is soft shooting and accurate, but I found I was shooting low. Before I say it's the gun, I think the heavy pull might have had me pulling instead of squeezing and dropping the shots.

As it sits, it's a fine firearm. I'm going to be shooting it more this weekend and I'm carrying it while off duty. And that it shines at. It carries very easily, is very light and it size is easily concealed. And that's in the plastic paddle that it comes with. With a better holster, I think it'll disappear while being carried.

I'll update more after this weekend when I run some more through it. I'll shoot her g17v4 alongside for comparison, maybe my FNP9 as well. I like it right now, but I'm up in the air as far as the trigger and slickness is concerned. A bit more range time might clarify that.

Good luck. I'm surprised you found it slick. Most people - myself included - find the sandpaper-ish grip texture really lock the gun into your hand.

HOWEVER, I think that's one of the coolest parts about the modularity aspect of this gun. You can pick up a spare grip module for $45 and do whatever custom texture/stipple job you want to make it as grippy as you wish and you're not actually modifying the gun/hurting resale value.

The trigger break is a little bit heavy from the factory but it breaks in very nicely. My compact model went to Robert Burke for his action job and my trigger breaks right at 5lbs flat now and it buttery smooth in take up and break. It's good from the factory, but with a bit of polishing, it's really outstanding.

That's how I fell for the gun though, honestly. It was NOT one of those love at first sight feelings that I had with guns like the HK P30 where I slowly found things I didn't like... I was like, "well, this is a decent gun... it doesn't wow me... be we'll see how it goes..." and the more rounds I put through it, the more I started to love it. I've got several thousands rounds through both of mine at this point and they are really great, but I think I do prefer he compact model - though I would like to try a 'Carry' grip module (full size mags with the compact slide).

I think you'll grow to like it. Good luck, my man!

I have the P320 Compact. I thought the trigger was just an ok when I first got it. I was at the range with a friend ( LEO ) and I asked him to try it and he remarked the trigger was very good.

Since that outing, I have taken the gun to the range several times and dry fired it quite a bit. The trigger has improved a LOT and I am more comfortable with my grip. The gun shoots better than I do and it is rapidly becoming one of my favorites other than a 1911.

Mine is a 9mm and I probably won't change a thing on it.

Recently bought a Compact P320 over a G19. After 400 round and two Steel Challenges, very happy with the choice. Mags aren't the cheapest, nor the accessories of a Glock, but felt much better in my hands. But, the trigger is awesome and the modular trigger assembly really impressive. It does what I need and has been perfectly reliable.

I'm interested in the P320 but am a little confused by the trigger.
Most if not all striker fired guns I am aware of have some sort of mechanical trigger safety, but the P320 has nothing that is visible.
Is there some sort of safety Built into the trigger that I can't see?

Safety is located between your ears. The trigger safety thing on guns like the Glock are more of a mental crutch then a real safety IMHO.

Uncle - do you mind if I ask who did your barrel plating and a ballpark cost? I really like the two-toned appearance and your great photography!

Regarding the comment from someone else about vertical play in the slides - I just checked both of my P250s and found them to have no vertical play. Mine are subcompacts and this vertical slide play may be related to the amount of slide overhanging or in front of the front rail on the FCU - or maybe it's an issue with the P320 and not the P250.

While the Glock trigger safety does provide some snag resistance, probably its most important function is to prevent the trigger bar from moving when the gun is dropped. Since the internal passive safeties are disabled when the trigger bar moves, it's necessary to lock the trigger bar in place against inertial forces to insure that it doesn't disable the passive safeties and allow the gun to fire. The trigger safety performs that function.

According to SIG, the P320 has an internal safety to prevent inertial discharges that doesn't require the trigger safety present in the Glock and other similar designs.

By the way, for what it's worth, if that's a sticking point for you, a "tabbed trigger safety" is an option on the P320.

Thanks for the response.
It's not a sticking point for me, I've got one of those safety things between my ears and it works most of the time. :)
I was just curious.

Thanks. I had mine done by MG Precision, but they recently changed their name to Brazen Firearms. They were the cheapest I have found. It was like $50 plus shipping. Most are closer to $90+

I've been happy with their work and if I decide to do another, I'll go back to them.

Nope..no trigger safety. What it does have is a heavier pull vs those with a dingus. ...

And what John said..lol.

You know, I would have thought so too. But the few I've handled so far have very impressive triggers. I haven't tried them all, but so far I haven't tried a striker fired gun with a trigger I like better than the one on the P320. I did a side-by-side "test" with the VP9 and the VP9 lost. I haven't tried the Walther striker-fired guns and I hear they're pretty good.

John, according to Chief, I don't have a gauge, the 320 has about a 7pd pull, which is 1to 1.5pds heavier then most competitors. I know it feels heavier then my M&P and both 4th gen Glocks, a 17 and 22, in the house. Also, I'm going to shoot it more today, but the first go around I was 6 o'clock low, regardless of distance. I'm thinking the extra pull weight has me dropping the shots, and Chief said he was all over the paper with it. I can keep good groups, they're just low.

And another note, auto correct on the tablet changes Glock to block....lmao:eek::D

Are you maybe using the wrong sight picture? Sigs generally like a combat sight picture, not a 6 o clock hold.
