Sig P238

I have a chance to buy a Sig p238 nitron that is brand new at clearance price of $424. Is this a good deal..
Any help would be appreciated

Sounds descent to me. I know I paid more than that for mine a few years ago. I imagine we'll see a lot of good pricing on existing pocket sigs in the near future. Everybody clambering for the new sig hotness, the p365:D

Speaking of the 365, does anyone know if production has resumed or when it will? I know Sig stopped production to address some quality control issues with the firearm. Just wondered if anyone had any updates......I would love to have a 365, but obviously after all the bugs have been worked out. Probably going to take some time I would imagine.

I just bought an extreme for$600, all costs included and I thought I did well. Thats excellent. New models are rolling out in a few weeks. It looks like there's plenty of older and discontinued models. I'm picking mine up today. Cant wait to shoot it.

That announcement amuses me. As someone watching the P365 with great interest SiG has not done well with its rollout.

"We fixed the problem but it wasn't our fault" is amusing

Has SIG ever had a smooth rollout of a US-made firearm?

I don't know for certain. I commented in another thread that at one point in my life SIG was synonymous with premier quality at least in my mind. I have seen enough news and discussion on them that I know that is no longer the case. Even when I was very excited about the P365 I was hesitant to be one of the first running out to buy one. Glad I was and it seems this has not made me less hesitant in that I have not run out to buy one.

I never thought I would be in the position of wanting something SIG made but considering other options just to make sure I would get something that would work correctly.

Sig's reputation has become somewhat spotty the last few years, mainly I think from rushing new designs too quickly to market. The classic P series pistols
(P220, P226, P229, etc) that I've shot and handled recently still seem to be quite good. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I have three P238’s and a P 938 made from the first issue to approximately one year ago, each of the pistols fires each and every time requested with total reliability.,

Finally got around to shooting my 238 extreme today. Shot 100 rounds of factory and berrys 100gr rn backed by 2.8grs of aa#2. Functioning was flawless. One of the most accurate 380's I have ever shot. I could shoot this gun all day. Its that comfortable. Very pleased with this purchase.

The Sig P238 in several forms has become one of my all-time favorite small handguns. Just a gem. It’s a toss-up between it and Smith and Wesson airweights with maybe a slight edge to the 238 because it’s smaller.

Are people carry the Sig 238 cocked and locked in the pocket?
Since it lacks a grip safety, no fear of the safety slipping to off with a single action cocked in the pocket?

I prefer the double action pull of the seecamp, kahr or revolver IMHO.

Absolutely. In a good holster cocked and locked is as safe as anything else you would pocket carry. Come to think of it, the trigger pull on the 238 I have is quite heavy for what it is.
