Sig P229

The guy got back to me today, his ad said 900 or reasonable offer. He then says if he can't get 900 he would keep it. I offered 750 for the package. He must love the gun and really not that serious about selling maybe. I don't care I will take my time finding one for less.

For $900 and also a 40 cal he can keep it.

Look at your local Gander Mountain. They've been selling P229 police trade ins with 3 mags and case for $499. I picked one up a couple months ago when they were have a 15% off sale so I got it for about $450 otd. Bought 3 extra mags on gb for less than $60 delivered.

P226DAKs in 40 were going $50 cheaper. Glocks were even less expensive. Right now is a great time to pick up a good used 40 cheap.

Can't go wrong with a P229! The P229 was designed around the .40 s&w round. I have one and the recoil is equal to a 9mm just because of the weight of the P229.

I've had a 10-year-old P229 on consignment at my local dealer for over a year.
Can't move it at $750, even listed on Gunbroker.

Less than 300 rounds through it, night sights, Grayguns action job, never holstered, Hogue rubber, three mags (two in plastic wrap), .357 & .40 barrels, factory case & papers, unused Galco concealment holster in factory plastic.

DPris, 15 days ago CDNN was selling 9mm and 40cal P229 enhanced elites for $799 NIB, the 40's may still be available. That is way your P229 has been on the market for a year at $750. Try lowering your price.

Considering what a potential buyer would be getting for that $750, I'll toss it in a lake before I'll give it away. :)

Looks new, dual-caliber, Grayguns action job, three mags (two in wrapper), unused leather.
And it's ALL pre-MIM.
It's as low as it's gonna go.

I was only mentioning it here as a response to the pricing being questioned by the original poster.

I appreciate you giving us the full details of what the pistol comes with a second time. Is this like in a movie when an actor takes a long swig of their Coke and holds it up to the screen and comments how refreshing it was? :D

Glad you do.
Pat seemed to have missed it in his quote, so thought I'd emphasize.
I do exist to make you happy. :)

I live about five miles from the south end of the Great Salt Lake.
That'd be the most convenient one. :)

Self promotion is never a bad thing.

The used market is horrible right now. I had a few things on consignment and I just gave up. I don't need them but I can't just "give them away" as far as I'm concerned.

Hi if someone can give their opinion on this p229 I have the opportunity to buy. A 40sw from the late 90s, comes with 6 magazines 4 12rounders and 2 10 rounders, a .357 barrel included also, with box and papers. I imagine the night sights are getting dim, don't know. It was carried on duty for a couple of years and has sat in the guys safe, appx 600 rounds through it. He is asking 900 or a reasonable offer. I offered 750 and would agree on 800 if comes back with that. Do you think that is about right? Than

That guy is a bit high on price. Mags you can take 50% off of new regardless of condition and I mean street price best deal not MSRP. You can get a conversion barrel for $150 and that is a Sig Factory barrel.

A Sig P229R should cost you $500 after transfer =/- $20 depending on shipping and transfer costs. You can get it with or without a rail.

They even throw in a barrel for $140.

So your looking at $500 Gun + $150 Barrel + $40 Mags =$690

So $700 because you can hold it in your hand seems reasonable. You are still solid at $750 depending on who made the conversion barrel. If it is Barsto you are ahead if its Sig you are square. If it is no name you are behind.

Thanks for the nudge in this thread.
Just back from the gunsmith where I traded that 229 package for Ruger & Colt DA revolver parts.

Hammer & machined trigger & other parts for GPs, parts for my old Security-Six, parts for I &D frame V-Spring Colts.

Needed to get that SIG off the books.
Quite happy with the swap for parts I couldn't get anywhere else.

Much appreciate the help! :)
