Sig P226

How could someone not love the greatest handgun of all time...love my MK25

To play devils advocate here:

  • DA/SA configuration is not for everyone
  • Grip size and length of pull is not for everyone
  • DA pull can be over 12 lbs stock & SA can be 6 lbs stock
  • Reset is long vs striker fired trigger or 1911s
  • High bore axis

These are just a few reasons some people do not like them. I personally "like" mine not "love" it. I "love" my P228!;)

My 1987 West German P226 is a great pistol in many respects, but it is a 9mm and I have moved away from the nine. It now spends most of its time wearing the .22LR converter.

Love is too strong a term for me.

YUP!

I had one back in the '80s, and hated letting it go, to pay some unexpected bills. When I replaced it a couple years ago, I made the mistake of buying the E2 grip. Absolutely hate it. Only about 500 rounds through it, but I can't seem to adapt. It might be easier if I didn't shoot my 220, 229, or even my 239 for a while, but it's just not right for me.

Is there any way to modify the grip on this thing?

I am not 100% sure. I know you can convert and older gun to an E2 grip but I am not sure you can go the other way.

People convert older Sigs to the E2 grip by changing out the hammer spring strut & retainer and a few other parts.

I believe I saw a post from another member who changed the E2 grips of his (new) 226 for the older grips (or Hogue), but don't remember what member.

Just to confirm for you guys, yes, any E2 sig will also accept any of the other Sig grips from Factory plastic, to hogue g10 or aluminum, etc.

I changed E2 grip(s) to Hogue, because it fits much better for me. Post # 10 has a picture too.
