hey guys,
i found tfl, wenn i entered 210-8 in google. there are certainly not many topics about the dash 8. so i think, its pretty cool, that u talk about it. i was just going to ask bfoster how much his gun was, when i saw this thread and read it. however, i own a -8 myself. i bought it 2nd hand for 1800 euros, which is still plenty of money, but 4200$ over there at the US seems to me insane, too. its new price was 4700 DM 3years ago. which was about 2400 dollars at that time. you guys may all cuss about this gun, but i can tell u "i'm lovin it :)" in my opinion it was worth every cent, cause it will last unil the next 50years, and after this time my grandchildren will hopefully win contests with it  and after this time, this gun has hardly lost anything of its former price. you SW and Colt crap isn't worth anything after just a few years. (ok, there are some exceptions colt pyton ect., but i mean in generall, thats what happens)...same procedure with beretta, walther,... you'll get an just 5 year old 92F for allmost nothin. this concept doesn't work with les bear, manurhin, sig, korth. the crafts of this companies allmost don't loose anything of their worth, and that why high prices are ok with me. if u want to get something exceptional u have to spend lotta money as well, that how live works in general.

by the way, i think it's pretty cool that there are some Sig-Fans as well over there in America!

-greetings from SIG-Fan from good ol' germany

ps: i've never read of someone else who offered his -8 for sell. if u consider there have just 200 210-8 been build, i don't think its very easy to find one!

guns r neat, but.......

You can get almost 4 hk Socoms for that, and I thought that was an overpriced handgun. Maybe some need it, or are so rich that they just dont care. But for most people, the cost just does not justify the benifit. Sig could put a $10,000 tag on that sucker, and nothing would change, it still sends a round down range, and the only people that would pay that much for a pistol are only doing so to brag. You can get the same accuracy out of many other firearms costing much less, but to brag you have to practice and be able to shoot it, not pay for your bragging rights. Kinda like someone buying a ferrari and driving it around town. Kinda over the top, and my POS 1989 honda prelude with 160000 miles can go just as fast on the highway as that ferrari.

Well let's see...a 2002 thread brought back in 2004 for a brief bow and brought back again in 2016...I realize it's only Sunday but I'm thinking this has a great chance of being the Zombie thread of the week.

(I said Zombie because I don't know how to spell necromancy.)

P.S. Welcome to the Forum Swissdagger and you are correct I would be VERY happy to have a Sig P 210-8.

I don't know what the p210 8 was supposed to offer; the link died a long time ago. I have a p210 6 w/the 22lr conversion kit which I've put about a 100 rounds thru; it looked brand new when I purchased it some time ago.

I think that same package today would run $4,000+. Is it worth it? To some people, yes. Me, no! I have a several other Swiss made handguns that were bought new in the last two years for less than $2,000 and even less than a $1,000. I'm unable to judge any difference in quality and accuracy between them and the p210. But, they're not balanced as the p210; by which I mean they don't feel as nice.

The P210-8 was a very late Swiss P210. It had some American features like a button mag release. It also had an large safety lever. They are very rare nowadays. The last one on GB sold for close to $10,000, I believe.

Quality wise, its not quite a match for the older forged Swiss guns. Its like the later P210-6 with the CNC frame and some MIM parts.

It's no different from any other high end luxury item. You can get $1000 guitar that sounds and plays almost as good as a $10,000 guitar. A $1000 that is 90% as good as a $10k bike. It's that last 10% that is so expensive and few of us could appreciate the difference.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly the point of bringing this one back to life after this amount of time.

I can't, so we're just going to let it rest in peace.
