And nobody believed me the other day when I said that one of the 210's went for over $4200.
Yes that is in American dollars.

I think that it is all steel parts, and it comes with 1 magazine. I think the magazines go for over $100 each.

Consider that it is essentially a customized gun. Extremely expensive, yes. Doesn't a Larry Vickers custom 1911 go for about $5000?

I noticed at the SHOT show that the new 210, base model, is around $1200(dealer cost). A little better than 4k, but still $$$.

Base Model...so they put $3000 into non standard features on the weapon??

I'm not spending my money I'm saving for a Jeep someday for a pistol. Ain't no way!!

This is insane... How many of these do they expect to sell?

Oh wait, I have yet to grasp how anyone is able to charge $4000+ for a pistol anyway. What is it about this gun that justifies this kind of pricetag. What can it do better then say a $2000 Les Baer? (another cost efficient piece of machinery)

Well, this is all lost on me anyway. Bunch of hyped up, over priced crap.

Well, there are some people who have the mentality that the higher the price, the better it must be (not to mention the more exclusive). But $4,200?! How many good quality used S&W's and semi-autos does that come out to?

If the standard P210-8 is $4200, how much is this?

:)

Seriously, the point is not to sell tons of these pistols. SIG only makes limited numbers anyway. They are the hand crafted, fine-tuned flagship models, proof of how good a SIG pistol can be if money is no object. The P210-8 may be overpriced at 8x the cost of my P239. However, the "cheap" P210-2 costs about $1350 on the street, similar to a high-end 1911, and plenty of people seem to buy those.

What can it do better then say a $2000 Les Baer?
What can a $3000 Wilson do that a $2000 Wilson can't? For that matter, why get a Mercedes?
And have you guys priced a set of Perrazi(sp?) shotguns? After that a $4200 single column 9 mm service weapon actually makes sense.

P210 magazines

The mags for the P210 are now $120 each + $10 shipping and they don't kiss you, buy you dinner or tell you that they love you and will respect you in the morning.
They used to be polished nicely and blued but the new ones are like parkerized with a rough finish that makes it difficult to put in the pistol.

Guys, guys, guys. That $4,200 SIG is the flagship, pull-out-all-the-stops, hand massaged all the way prestige piece. The "real" ones that they actually expect to sell are more like $1,500-$2,000 delivered. Alot of money, but I have one of the early Danish military m/49 models and the craftsmanship is superb. BETTER, IMHO, then a Les Baer or Wilson you'd get for the same money... and yes, I've handled those too. The SIG is obviously better build quality in my book. Sure, it is kind of archaic and impractical with the tiny sights and Eurotrash mag release. But your money gets you real old-school craftsmanship, an utterly superb trigger and stupendous accuracy.

I find it heartwarming that some country, somewhere, loved their troopies so much that they gave them all what amount to expensive hand-massaged bullseye pistols as a sidearm. :D

As Castle Bravo said the P210-8 is the top-of-the-line model. The base model is the P210-2 and lists for something like $1,680. Although I wouldn't pay $4000+ for the top shelf model, I'm really considering buying the base model around next year or so (when company bonuses come out...). This gun is world-renowned for top quality and accuracy; I think the Swiss make some of the best products in the world: Guns, watches, chocolate. :)
