Sig 556 vs. Colt 6920 (m4)

If you already have ARs (and make no mistake, the 6920 is just another AR), why would you not want a Sig? Get the one with the folding stock, not the one with the buffer tube stock. You won't be sorry.

I almost bought a 556 but just couldn't get over the front-heavy ergonomics and the cheap "backup" iron (plastic) sights. I love the piston-driven mechanism, and was hoping this rifle would be the ultimate kalishnikov-AR marriage, but I can't say that I was ready to drop $1400 for one.

The Best of Both Worlds

I do not have a Colt, but I do have a couple of nice ARs, as well as a Sig 556 Classic. Both platforms are excellent. The Sig has slightly less felt recoil, is a little more barrel heavy, unless you have a heavy barrel AR, and has the versatility of the folding stock. It is very easy to shoot well folded or not. The detachable rear sight on mine works well, but is not as tough as say a Troy Battle sight for the AR.

If I had to give one up, it would be a tough choice. Thankfully, I don't have to.

I'd recommend the sig only because colt only requires a 5moa 10 shot group at the factory. When I bought a colt 6920 it shot 3.5 moa 3 shot groups.

For an ar-15 of that price look at s&w, I have had much better experiences with them. Also I have heard nothing but good about Daniel defence.

Zombie thread......

It isn't even Halloween yet...

The OP probably made a choice a while ago or has moved on to something else like model air planes or something.;)

Just sold my Colt Sp1 6100 carbine. I got tired of 1/12 ammo limitations, and the gun belongs with a collector. Bought a Sig 556 patrol for $935 w/free delivery. It's the complete package as far as I'm concerned for the $$$. Very accurate and will shoot the cheap ammo all day long at the outdoor range without a problem. Easy to field strip and clean, and folds nicely back into my small safe. This is the best 223/5.56 on the market for the money. Sig has really turned over a new leaf on CQ.

Strafer, I'm not much of a range report guy. Just head over to warriortalk dot com and they have a separate forum for the Sig 556 with plenty of info from many different posters. Most of the info is since CQ flip flopped in the last year or so. Don't buy a used one as they were crap and cost an arm and leg. Tech is like a SCAR without paying all the $$$.

go Colt !!
i like most all SIG products, but ! that SIG 556 is ugly ;)

Colt uses a larger trigger pin,
not since that silly ban BS expired.

WOW !! i too missed the posting date.., model airplanes......, quite possible, then shooting them down with an airsoft AK ! :D . :D
