Sig 229 or CZ 75 SP-01

The SP01 is massive, and heavy. I pity the man who carries it.

You always read people describing the SP-01 like this, but rarely the full size steel 1911 that is VERY similar in weight and dimensions...

With thin VZ grips, the SP-01 is pretty slim for a double stack auto, and with a flush 16rd mag it conceals as well as any other full size gun in a purpose made holster and gun belt.

The P229 compares more closely to the CZ P-01 in weight and size with its alloy frame and shorter barrel. I'm not sure if the P-01 has night sights though.

Thank you everybody for feedback and opinions.

Something about the CZ just interests me much more than the Sig. I know the Sig had a better value for what I was getting but I decided to get the CZ 75 SP-01

I will be picking it up this weekend.

I have bigger hands so that appealed to me more. Thanks again

You're welcome and congrats! I'm confident you will enjoy your SP01. If you decide that the trigger reset is a tad long for your liking and are confident breaking your gun down you can install an SRS 1 kit from CGW, makes the reset MUCH shorter and the DA pull quite nice.

Thanks for joining TFL, I think I speak for everyone when I say that I hope you stick around and see what else TFL has to offer. This forum is a wealth of firearms knowledge and for the most part we (or the mods) keep it polite.

Not even close. CZ-75 SP-01. I narrowed it down to these 2 guns for months and the CZ was every bit better than the Sig and cheaper. The CZ is the finest DA/SA steel 9mm on the market IMO. Nothing wrong with the Sig's either, I just found the CZ better in every aspect.

Check out Cajun Gun Works. Call David if you have any questions, he'll hook you up.

If you have the Tactical model and find the DA too heavy look into the Cajun Gun Works Ultra-Lite Self Defense Firing Pin Kit. I got it and put it in my SP-01 and it is spectacular. Dropped the DA a few lbs while still making it completely reliable and more than heavy enough for HD duty.

Take a look at a Sphinx SDP as well if you can. It's a CZ-75 inspired pistol with super high quality manufacture. It kind of bridges the gap between the differences of each.

Picked up the CZ 75 SP 01 this past weekend. What a beauty. Nice and heavy, solid, and I just cant wait to shoot this bad boy this weekend.

I know have 2 guns and will not upgrade for awhile.....this dam -CENSORED--CENSORED--CENSORED--CENSORED- is addicting with all the new guns that come out

my pistol = CZ 75 SP 01
My AR = Daniel Defense DDM4V11

I plan on keeping both for a long time
