Hey guys i want a Sig 220! I rented one at the range and they are great. The trigger pull is incrediable! Anyway they run $525 and up used in my area. They go $675 plus tax new!!! Can i do much better at a gun show? Thanks for any help,45automan

Don't know how much they cost, but I do know that Sig triggers can be wildly variable from gun to gun. One gun will have a fantastic trigger, and the one lying next to it will have a HORRIBLE trigger.

Look around.

I sold a used P220 for $500 a couple of years ago when I bought a new one. Check with R-Guns, CDNN, K-Y Imports, or Kieslers as they have had them for $389 recently. That is a used about %85-%90 gun.

I love my P220. It's definatly the most accurate gun I've shot in it's class. And it has been very reliable. You'd be doing very good if you could get a new one for under $600. I've never seen one that low.

Seen two with cracked frames, but they seem to shoot very accurately.

Almost as nice a gun as the 45ACP Ruger.

Oh, except Sigs cost more.

If you look around & don't get into a hurry, I think you can find one for around $500, used, at a show. Most are higher, but there are some, in good condition too, that will run around the $500 mark. Just don't get into a hurry.

Over a large assortment in my gun cupboard my SIG P220 (and I take it you mean the 45 ACP - the '220' was originally defined as the 'family' including the 229 and such) - most certainly the best and the number one. the DA trigger pull is good - but not up to the next generation, such as the Para LDA. the single action is probably the best out of the box. Handnling is comparable to the CZ 75. It out performs the ol' 1911, but might be comparable to some of the later clones, the Kimber say. Expensive? sure. Cracked frames were an issue some time - there is a SIG page someplace that says something about that - mine's doing just fine.

I have seen them from 450 to 525 used.I paid 525 for mine used.If you have a dealer check shotgun news. But by the time you pay your dealer and shipping and tax you are going to have 500 plus invested.Keep looking they are well worth it.

Almost as nice a gun as the 45ACP Ruger.

Get one, It's the nicest SA/DA .45 I've ever shot/owned. Way better than the Ruger, (and yes, I have one of those too).
My trigger is around 4 1/2 lbs factory. And it is missing the 3 1/2' takeup of the Ruger.

I got it at a show with nite sites for $575.

just found one for my friend that shot mine, and said he had to have one. payed $435.00 used in very very good condition. found mine about three years ago used w/ night sites payed 240.00 + a s&w mod. 19 in good condition. thought i got a hell of a deal. see them for 450.00 a lot. if you look around you can find the cheep.

Catman, you are the only person I know that is cheaper than I am:-) I picked up my P220 NIB for $375 several years ago. I found an ad for P220s being clearanced and my friend, FFL holder, and I each bought one. It was a great buy but I am one of the few that think a Ruger P90 is almost as good and for a lot less money. Regards, Richard.

Cracked frames on Sigs are VERY uncommon. I am a Sig armorer and I have yet seen one or heard of one in my area. Don't worry about buying a used Sig and the frame cracking. If it does that is actually good news, Sig's policy is to replace the frame with a new one. They stand behind their products.

I just bought a used one, old style made in 1989. I paid $475 w/o tax. You could get it cheaper even with shipping from an internet place like KY Imports or JG Sales, but you wouldn't get to handle it first. Guess it depends on how soon you gotta have one.

I love mine, couldn't be happier. The only bad thing I can find about it is the somewhat thin blue finish and tendency to rust--it rusted a tad when I was in Missouri this weekend. In all other things--trigger, sights, accuracy, recoil, comfort, pointing, simplicity, and reliability--it exceeded my expectations. I love it.
Comparison to Ruger is not quite fair to the Ruger, IMHO. The SIG is a different class of gun altogether. I actually like the Rugers though I have little experience with them, but I wouldn't compare one to my beloved SIG.

BTW, there's a guy at http://www.sigforum.com who's selling a used 220 on Ebay. It's the newer model and looks to be in great shape. It's up to $600 now but includes the plastic box, trigger lock, manual, and nine magazines, whereas my $475 gun came with one magazine.

Depending on how many mags you plan to buy later anyway, this could be a good deal.

I love my 220. I was not big on .45, after spending 13 yrs in Army with one as my personal weapon, but this one was calling my name from the case at my friendly neigborhood gunshop. Don't regret it a bit. For $600, I got the following package deal:

Used P220, two tone, 500 rds fired
Box and papers
Trijicon sights
3 extra magazines
Hogue rubber and checkered wood grips
Galco IWB holster

Mine shoots great, goes bang every time, and looks mighty sharp in the much nicer holster I got for it. If you find a dea, go for it - you won't regret it.

Forgot to mention specifics. Mine has gone 500 rds with no sign of any kind of malfunction now, with everything from S&B 230 gr FMJ to Federal Hyda-Shoks to Winchester Silvertips to 200 gr. LSWC reloads of unknown origins (they were the cheapest ammo at the store, so I bought 250 rds for this weekend's shoot at Gunslinger's.)

The accuracy was highlighted this weekend as well. Saturday morning I used an entire box at the end of the morning, after shooting everything else in creation, ( :D ) to destroy a 3.5 inch target at one corner of the paper. All 50 rds were inside 6 inches at 15 yds, which is great accuracy for me.

Did I mention that I love this gun? :D
