i think all handguns should have 50 rounds run thru them at the factory to test function and assembly prior to shipping. i think most people would pay 10 bucks more to not have to ship a gun out because it was fubar out of the box.

The main thing that test targets do is generate heartburn for the factory in the form of:

1. Irate buyers calling because they can't duplicate the results on the target and who think they've been cheated.
2. Confused buyers calling because they can't duplicate the results on the target and who want to know how the results were achieved.
After some reflection, it occurs to me that I have no evidence, nor even hearsay to support the quoted comment above as a statement of fact.

I'd like to amend it to say:

My guess is that the main thing that test targets do is generate heartburn for the factory in the form of:

1. Irate buyers calling because they can't duplicate the results on the target and who think they've been cheated.
2. Confused buyers calling because they can't duplicate the results on the target and who want to know how the results were achieved.

Actually john thats a perfectly valid point and thanks for bringing it up for a different perspective. I think/hope however that most folks realize their skill limits and the conditions under which the accuracy targets are obtained. Kinda like fuel economy MPG :)
