Should I get this Kimber ?

Appreciate the thought Cap'n, but it was Galyan's - they are a mega sports store with good stuff all around (yes, they have TREKs) and pretty good prices - I got the Royale for $749, a USP45C for $589 last summer. They're among the last of the chains to still carry handguns in Fairfax Co.

Rainbow, I know what you mean. I've had the opportunity to shoot an Ultra Carry and an Ultra Elite. Both were fine pistols, the Ultra Elite had a better trigger. But the groups were no better than I get with my Glock 21. And since the Glock 21 is already paid for and the accessories are already purchased, I decided against a Kimber. VERY nice gun, though. If I didn't already have a accurate, reliable .45 one of the CDP models would be the one. The Ultra Carry CDP sells for about $1050 in the store I work in. But for the money you get pretty much all the features most people would want.

Go get it as soon as the store opens. I have a Kimber Custom Combat Carry Model and it is a gorgeous, sweet shooting piece of machinery. I have 18 different 1911s and 4 Glocks and that Kimber is one of my favorites.

Thanks again to all.

I have yet to handle the Kimber. And as it has been mentioned, I am selling my 98 GT Zaskar LE and my 2000 Custom Specialized Enduro Comp in order to make the purchase.

There is a show coming in June and maybe I can sell the bikes and be able to make the purchase if it fits my hand.

Wish me luck.

I got bitten by the ProCDP bug as well!!! :)

I've not been sorry. It needed a light trigger job as it had some creep, but $30 at the local smith fixed it.

I had 3 FTFeeds. They occured in the first 100 rounds. During that time, the ejected brass would fly anywhere from straight ahead to bouncing off my forehead. As another 300 rounds went by, the trajectory of brass got smaller and smaller untill you could put it into a five gallon bucket. I now have about 1200 rounds through it with no more failures. :D

You'll love it.

I prefer armed combat to unarmed combat. It's easier on the knuckles.
