Should I .357Mag --> .38Spl?

For target shooting I really enjoy .357's out of my 4" 686. I decided against .357's for home defense due to the noise and flash though. I thought .38's would be better for hd. Ultimately I decided on .45 ACP for hd. Much better stopper than .38 and still low noise/flash.

Thanks for all the advice.. I think I will try the changing of the grips. I really like the way the Hogue grips feel, and also, the problem with the "stock" grip is, there's a thumb rest on the left side, I'm left handed, and so I can never get a comfortable grip on it..

The .357Mag were 125grain JHP from PMC.. They were HOT... I felt the tingle after about 5 shots.. By the 20th shot, my hand was going numb..
