Shotguns are just a flat-out hootenanny!

Yep. If it's out there to be shot full of holes what difference does it make if the wood catches a llittle more intense punishment than usual? As long as the target frames and whatnot are not damaged, I don't see anything wrong with a little accelerated plywood destruction. As long as you chipped in for the plywood supply with you dues, anyway...

If you plan on shooting electronic devices you should try to rake up as much of the remnants as possible, though. They tend to contain chemicals that are not so friendly to our fine american ecosystem. Rake it up and recycle it. The squirrels and deers will thank you.

What about the next guy that comes out to shoot and all he can find is a bunch of shot up frames and backstops. I'll bet that those of you that get your jollies out of blowing stuff up have never taken the time to repair one out of respect for the next guy??The attitude of let someone else worry about it or I paid my dues so it's Ok is apathy at it's best!!
"Funnest(sic) at the expense of others is irresponsible.

shooting at somthing that is just sitting there just to watch it blow apart might be fun but why not make interesting and shoot at something moving at 70 m.p.h. and watch it explode like skeet, trap or sporting clays. but whatever blows your dress up

try this

you could try this..... http://www.aintalltherepumpkincannon.com/

That video looked pretty dangerous, firing at gravel (?) from such a close range, could lead to disaster.

The shooting of wood backstops...who cares???!!! If it's ok with the range then why the heck does anyone have a prblem with it??!!

Shotguns are quite awesome.

My Ithica Model 37 will slamfire if you hold the trigger while pumping, so that actually makes it Super-Awesome*.

come on guys. shooting is fun, otherwise it wouldn't be a "sport". it would be a "job".

Can't you guys just accept that some of our ranges are way cooler than yours?

Mine is 600 yards, free with benches and cover. Anything on the range is fair game. Most of the time that means you need to bring your own targets but we also tend to leave the gongs we set up for the next folk. the favor is usually returned pretty quickly.

Most of the time there is noone else there, so you can shoot from holsters, prone, moving, basically anywhere you have a backstop.

Some ranges are just different.

Woah, just re-read the original post. I misunderstood the wood to be a target frame.

Oh no. Right; it's not a wood target frame. It's an iron frame, into which you slide long rectangular strips of plywood, as your target backing. Gets replaced pretty regularly. In hindsight, I think I *did* make a mistake in not replacing the one I shot up, since the stack of plywood was right there - oops; will be more courteous next time.
