Shot My New Tisas 1911A1 For The First Time

"Original 1911A1 GI Specification"

I agree with GC70 that the Tisas is pretty close to the M1911A1 specification. For the few who may not be aware, the pistol originally had a different designation and a different configuration. The most obvious differences are the flat mainspring housing and medium-length trigger in the original as compared to the arched mainspring housing and short trigger in the M1911A1. There are also some other differences. Below is a photo of my Colt Anniversary Model which is a very close reproduction of the original.

Zzeke, your TISAS M1911A1 is a WW2 GI style M1911A1

a more modern combat version would have extra features like a lowered / flared ejection port, extended ejector

high profile combat sights or night sights, beveled mag well, etc

something like a Springfield Operator M1911A1

Nothing wrong with these inexpensive guns at all. A better trigger and nicer sights would not be very expensive to have fitted.

I have a Metroarms American Classic II that today goes for around $600.00 but I got mine about 9 years ago for a lot less than that. They are made in the Philippines. I loved it out of the box, but knew it could be made to be much better since it was 100% milspec. My 1911 specialist gunsmith told me it was an excellent platform for upgrading, so I had him hand-fit a full compliment of Wilson Combat parts. That cost me just under a grand. So for about $1,600.00 I ended up with a gun that for function and accuracy I will put up against any $3,000.00 boutique gun out there. Most of the smithing cost was to fit the oversized stainless barrel bushing and the stainless beavertail, both of which required a lot of hand-fitting. You could do the same with a Tisas.

Tisas Update:

I'm just north of 500 rounds through my new Tisas M1911A1. Still ZERO stoppages or malfunctions of any kind. I definitely do not regret this purchase!
