I have just sent off for my ccw permit(arkansas). I know it differs but i would like to know which states are the most speedy in getting them to law abiding people the fastest Thanks,Chris

Pa. was about 20-30 minutes depending on if anyone was on line. Each county is different. I`ve heard Luzerne Co. (Wilkes Barre, Hazleton area) takes about 2 weeks.

AZ's statewide permit was in my wallet 14 day's after its submission. Completetion of 16 hr course, print cards, and application. Done after the course, late Sun. afternoon.

48 hours is the norm here in lower Virginia, after a 4 hour course and $50 for the application fee.

Indiana runs about 3 weeks in the winter, 4 in the summer. More people applying for them in summer.

Does the "X" ring have to be that small?

Here in Bedford County Pa. It takes about 20 mins. if the instant check works like it's supposed to. I got mine before the instant check, and it took about 3 weeks!

Instantly.

No license required for concealed carry here.

Oh, Vermont.

Here in upstate NY it takes forever. They always blame it on the FBI. What actually happens is the judge hangs onto the paperwork till he feels like doing it. A combination of these makes it months for your license to come thru. Way back when I got mine it took me less than a month. I can only say "It's not who you are, but who you know" if you know what I mean. After all, this is NY.

Gee most of you guys are lucky mine will take 2 to 3 months thanks to the sheriff taking thirty days to make a decision also

York County, PA is 2-3 weeks for the background check and administrative details for the initial permit. Renewal took maybe 10 days.

I don't know what part of Texas you are from Cowboy, but it took me, and the rest of our crew (roughly 30 men) 2-2 1/2 months to get ours, and we're in Texas as well(Dallas). Earliest was 2 months, which is exactly what it states on the CCW package.

Here in Georgia, it depends on the county in which you live because of the requirement to have a judge in the Probate Court approve the application. It took 6 weeks for the CCW permit to show up, from time of application to appearing in the mailbox, in the county I live in. The counties have 60 days to notify you of approval or denial, and that 60 days includes a background check by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. GBI is pretty responsive to background checks, so I suspect that the culprit of lag times is waiting on the judges that have to approve the applications......Dan in GA

All you guys are lucky. Here in Rhode Island I hear it is nearly imposible to get one.. The new attorney general does not believe in them.. Have to have a valid reason to have one!! OH well guess i will have to move.

Here is CT, you take a 6 hour "safe shooters" course, then submit an application and four sets of prints at the police dept. for a "local" town permit which is issued in a couple of weeks. Then you apply for State permit: 4-6 weeks. Then you get you photo ID license which is good for 5 years. Yep, a photo just like my drivers license. Connecticut does not require that you provide any "reason" for your application. It is assumed that you simply want it because it is your right to have it. Interestingly enough, our State also requies us to own a "boating" license if we want to use any watercraft that will accept a motor. For that license, you go to class for 4 weeks!! (once a week for four hours each!)Then, take a test which you could flunk! I mean, where is the balance??!
All in all not a bad deal for us. To buy a handgun, you walk into a shop, select you pistol, fill out five forms (many duplicates but that's the state for you) while they do an instant check; pay for the gun and walk out the door. Again, not a bad deal.

Greetings Everyone; Here in Birmingham, AL
(Jefferson County) it normally takes three
weeks; unless the applicant is accompanied
by a LEO when submitting the application.
Then, it is issued as soon as the $7.50 fee
is paid. :)
