Short CCL Processing Time

@Pahoo: As far as NC goes yes.

There is a pistol purchase permit that you go to the sheriffs office and fill out some forms and the sheriff decides if you are eligible. You can purchase up to four at a time at $5 a piece.

Then there is the CCL. Once obtained the CCL counts as your background check for all firearm purchases and doubly counts as a pistol purchase permit.

The Iowa "Permit to Purchase" allows for you to buy as many as you want throughout the year. There is only one fee for this permit of $5.00. Thanks for your info. To bad there can't be more standardization between the states. I don't know for sure but I understand that Iowas counties even have different rules on issuing permits. Go figure !!!

Be Safe !!!

I turned in my CCW paper work the Tuesday after CHIRSTMAS.Only 2 work days that week and 3 days the next . Got the call on Jan 11. to pick it up. SO its taking about 10 working days or so here. So I dont feel to bad.

When I got mine (Utah), I was told it would be about 100 days "processing time". Got it in the mail on the 27th day. Non-resident permits do take a bit longer to get than my resident permit though.

I'm in Brunswick, ME and submitted my CFL application on December 4. I picked it up yesterday, January 15. I figured I didn't do too badly given the stories I've been hearing from other states.

The young lady at the Brunswick PD that processed my application claimed that the current application rate is extremely high compared to prior years, and that there's a backlog of at least 40 applications as of yesterday.

I looked at my permit and realized that it had expired a while back. Oh crap...

So, I went into the county sheriff's office on a Monday to renew it. They said because it had expired already, and was past the grace period, I'd have to start all over again with a new application.

I submitted the application that afternoon. On Thursday, same week, my new permit was in my mailbox.

I'm lucky to live in a state/county that turns these around quickly.

The moral of my story, though, is to take a peek at your permit occasionally to make sure it hasn't expired on you!
