again... ( to repeat myself... ) I wouldn't have a problem with a Damascus barrel that was "recently" re-proofed, but if that was a proof as old as even 10 years, I would be skeptical... if it was an original proof stamp on a "vintage" ( old enough that it could have been fired even once with corrosive ammo ) Damascus barrel, no matter the quality or maker, I personally would not shoot it
 
Hacker Martin was a hillbilly and he was one of the guys who kept the black powder rifle building tradition alive during the dark ages of the hobby.

I think Hershel House would be proud to be called a hillbilly. He's considered a master among the gun building circle.
