Shooting at 50 yards?

siting isues not here

I have a .357 I love it 2-6 bushnell scoop 6 .5 inch barrel laser site mounted around the barrel witch is sitted at 50 yards witch means I use laser from 0 to 50 and scope 50 to 100 yards on a calm morning 2 inch groupings at 100 yard I wouldn't trad it for any thing

Wow .... 44 Mags for racoon now. Sounds great. I hunted racoons with hounds for many years and usually did pretty well with a Ruger Single Six.
If I'd have shot them buggers with a 44 Mag I'd probably still be hunting for the dogs. They could pretty much handle a 22lr but a 44 Mag would have been too much. But the hounds are all gone now. Hey ... maybe sittin out on the back porch waiting for a big ole Raccoon to come by with my little ole 44 Mag might be fun to do. :D

I'd go with the .44 mag too...I have a S&W 629 in the 8 3/8" barrel. I have found it to be much more accurate than I am, and am in the process of scoping it at this time. Although before vision was a problem, I could easily keep all six in a paper plate sized group at 100 yards with the factory sights...

I agree with nighthunter. You don't really need a 44 to hunt varmints and small deer. The 357 will do just fine. It kills deer just fine. For larger game like Elk and larger Black Bears I would step up to the 44 or even a 454. For an all-use versatile gun, I can't think of anything that works better than a 357 Mag. You can plink with 38spl for lower recoil while spending less money and use Magnum loads when needed. The ammo selection is greater than just about any pistol cartridge in existence. I can't think of anything in Florida that won't go down with a 357. I have a Ruger RedHawk in 44M that is an excellent gun which I mainly use for hiking trips in Montana or Wyoming or for big-game hunting, for which I usually prefer a rifle.
