Ditto!!

I have read up on today's additions to this thread.
Have made the decision to make the trip to Galesburg Saturday, and observe this in person. I live but 120 miles away, and used to live in Galesburg for 9 1/2 yrs.
Galesburg is a good, old community. But unfortunately, it has the weight of Chicago bearing down on it, as does the entire State of Illinios. The same Chicago that's suing the ATF to get the records on sales to you and I. And I don't even live there. Any chance that they'd have harm done to Shoemaker for making waves in their backyard?

I will take the cameras, (digital and video as well), and see what occurs here. I fear for Mr. Shoemaker's well being, so it would be to all our benefit to have a set of "eyes" there to see in person what unfolds.

Best Regards,
Don

The most foolish mistake we could make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms;
History shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall.

Don, if I could be there myself, I would. Thank you for showing your support. I am looking forward to your report!

Makes you wonder if there will be a movie in the future where one of Mel Gibson's kids plays THIS guy. History has turned on some pretty obscure characters, if you stop and think about it. Think of the vast number of people whose names we would never have known but that they did some historic good or evil.

Heroes are ordinary men who do extraordinary things.

Somebody needs to tell him to chill out until the 5th Circuit rules in Emerson. Preliminary indications are GOOD, see also the Knox report I'm about to post in it's own thread.

If Emerson truly supports the 2nd, he's got a slight chance of coming across as sane in the media.

Jim,

Why is it up to the courts? They are not the final say-so in this country of ours; the people are.

This man is 100% lucid, from what I can tell. I've never met him, and I suspect none of us has, but he is at least very literate where the Constitution is concerned.

The media is going to portray him as a nut job regardless. Everybody in here knows that. There have been numerous court cases that have settled the issue over the years. Emerson is pretty obscure, if the truth of the matter be told. It won't even really be decided on the merits of individual firearms ownership, but whether or not a state court can restrict civil liberties without a trial. Read the briefs. That's the case in a nutshell. I think we're getting a little too excited over what will ultimately be a non-starter regardless of how it goes.

Now if Mr. Shoemaker (Captain Shoemaker) lives through this, there might be a little different sort of case. That is part of the undertaking, I believe. It's civil disobedience with an edge to it.

Here Jim.

I don't know enough about the in's and out's of the Emerson case. So I'm sure you can relate it to him better than I can. :D

Lets see a show of hands:
1.)He'll be arrested before June 17th.
2.)He'll be arrested eary June 17th,4:00 AM sounds about right.
3.) He'll have a car accident sometime this week.
4.) Shoemaker found out last fall he has a terminal illness and this is suicide by cop.

My hand goes up on number 4.

An ironic aside regarding the mention of John Brown. There is a statue of John Brown in downtown Akron, Ohio. The statue has been in the news a lot as of late. John Brown owned a house in Akron, that was believed to be part of the underground railroad. There is no direct proof that it was, but it is a safe bet that it was used as such like many of the houses along the path of The Erie Canal. The reason the statue is in the news is because of the sad condition it's in. 130 or so years after the fact, the statue of John Brown has been defaced by gang graffiti to the point where it is an eyesore. The local media is in somewhat of a quandry over the whole thing. To call on the public to help restore the statue would condone John Brown as a patriot, but to ignore the sad condition would condone gang activity. Sometimes is fun to watch the media squirm. ;)-It helps a lot if you're familiar with the leanings of the local media.-So far to the left they need to travel a week just to be socialist.

I think the best thing all non-IL residents can do (if they can't/won't show up) is to call the police departments in support of Him. Hundreds and or thousands of phone calls from all over the country may make the difference between him getting shot/arrested and him marching without incident and going home.

I just called both PD's. It was kind of funny. They don't seem to know what to do. I asked them not to kill a man for exercising a Constitutional Right and to support the law of the land. They just lamely answered - "OK, thanks for calling."

Good job, Cassidy. I'm gonna call when I get home. Somehow I don't think the Navy would pay for the long distance charges associated with this one.

I just called also and said that I support this man's right to bear arms and not to bother him if he threatens no one. It was kind of like calling my congressman. :)

Please call.

Bob Locke - I thought your post earlier was so good I reposted it on AR15.com. I hope you don't mind.

How about a Wag The "Wag The Dog"? Support Old Shoe (Shoemaker) with some shoes in the trees of the square.

Everybody knows that if it works in the movies it will work in real life. :)

Just called.

The first dept I told the lady who answered the phone that I, along with many others, would be watching what happened this weekend and to express my support for Captain Shoemaker. She offered to let me talk to the Duty Officer. "Great!" I thought, not just blown off like I suspected. Then she came back on and asked for my name, phone number, and where I was calling from. --Long pause from me-- Do I really want to go OFFICIALLY on record as a SUPPORTER of a RADICAL OUTLAW? Well these are not times for cowards. I sounded off all three nice and clear.

The second dept (Monmoth) just asked my name, thanked me and hung up.

Please call, we need to flood their phone lines with pro-gun support... this is 10x more impacting than congressman pleading IMHO.

Doesn't bother me in the least, Cassidy. In fact, I feel quite honored that you thought highly enough of my words to share them on another forum.

Personally, I am sort of starting to wish that this guy had a couple hundred fellow patriots standing with him, all armed to the teeth. How would the federales deal with THAT one?

Bottom line is that our government has become like unto a gang of bullies. You don't have to look any further than today's Horiuchi ruling for the proof. This man is willing to call their bluff, it seems. I wish him well, and applaud him. I hope to be able to shake his hand someday.

I have mixed feelings about this. Obviously, Illinois, and not Shoemaker, is the ultimate lawbreaker here.

I hope that Illinois backs down. I hope Shoemaker has the numbers. I hope no one gets hurt.

I'll be watching this with interest.
