Shiner Bock Alert!!!!!!!!!

Dennis,

I guess I'll have to stop off for a couple with you when I make my final trek from Virginia to Colorado this summer. Maybe my taste buds will have improved over time, and I will be able to appreciate the fine, fine qualities of your chosen adult beverage. ;)

Dennis,

Give me time and place. I'll be there with a case.

Hey, that rhymes! Beer does strange things to me. :D

Now that I've read about all of these beers, I have to tell you half-drunk TFLers that I live in the microbrew hub of the U.S. Few people here drink anything bottled in *fill in the blank*. Some of my favorites here are McMenniman's Terminator, Black Butte Porter, Pelican Brewery Irish, Rogue Nut Brown, etc. The list goes on and on. There are too many here. I've lived in the Northwest for 10 years and still find new breweries everywhere. Wines are awesome here, too. Making California nervous. Some Cali. folks buying acreage here in the Valley for $50,000 per acre. A steal compared to Cali. I understand. Anyway, if any of you are in the area just let me know and I'll point you in the right direction. I'll probably have a few with you. Bottoms up!

Steve

a buddy rented out a micro brewery for a day and brewed up some really nice dark beer.
being a bit of a graphics whiz he also cooked up some nice labels..

you have not lived until you have had a cold, dark "Godzilla's Breath"!

All,
My ISP and e-mail are experiencing great problems! Therefore I'm suffering TFL withdrawal pains. But, "I'll be back!"

Why Dennis, are you offering to teach me? ;)

And although you may be an instructor, I don't think even you are talented enough to perform CPR on yourself! :)

How far are you from San Antonio? I will be be visiting there either in the spring or summer. If you aren't too far away I will let you buy me a Shiner or two!!! :D Otter's never been to Texas before....it could be an interesting experience!

Glad to see you back...I've been wondering where you have been hiding.

fubsy, www.shiner.com check out where to buy it. Tampa has a bunch of references. I'd rate it up there as worthy of taking a bit of a drive to try it FWIW.

Didn't see a Shiner redhead. Maybe that's one of those seasonal things like Old Frothingslosh ;)

rae,
I went through the link and IVe located a place or two in orlando as well, Ive got to be traveling there soon,,,,,Need a new knife and Im a sucker for randals, scary part is I actually use em......sacralige I know...but ya do what gotta do,.,...tks for the info...fubsy.

And Bob Locke has demonstrated why adults pay no mind to the opinions of 13-year olds. Oh, well. He'll be 18, soon...

:), Art

If only I could be 18 again, Art! :)

It's not like 31 is anywhere near "old", but it's quite a ways from 18, too.

Besides, I didn't like ANY beer when I was 13. Things change..... ;)

Wow they do sell it in my state! Thanks for the link Rae, never bothered looking for it because I didn't think anything good could be found here.
Now all I need is the patience and tolerance to make it 30 minuets in traffic trying to figure out which freeways are closed and I can finally find the most talked about beer on TFL and finally try some!
Will it beat my MGD... Time will only tell.....

FWIW, Miller Brewing leans toward the gun control side. Should make the drive a bit more satisfying. ;)

What what?? Seems like every time I like something they have to go and be anti! At this rate I'm a starve to death and not be able to do anything but watch my snake slither around his cage.

Ok RAE,

I have been looking for Shiner here in Ohio since reading about it here on TFL. If you know of some place I can procure some some of this rare (in Ohio, anyways) concoction, fess up. I'd hate to think you were hoarding it all to yourself. :D

I have to admit a liking for Old Peculiar myself. Honey Brown is also mighty tastey. Sam Adam's Summer Ale is good. So is Great Lakes Brewing Company's Edmund Fitzgerald Porter.

Blev

Blev,
I tried some when I was in Kansas City 2 weeks ago.
hehe BEER RUN!

FWIW, Thirsty Dog in Copley wins hands down as far as the best brew going. Their "Old Leg Humper" is a rock and roll mix-o-hops ;)

Here I sit, with my first Shiner Bock, open, in front of me, with a couple of Snyder's Sourdough Hard Pretzels.

I take a drink...

cool...
very flavorful...
a little nutty...
good body...

I now take a bite of pretzel and another drink of Shiner Bock...

yes...
a very happy marriage...

hmmm...

Roon is happy :) :)

Has anybody tried any San Miguel beer, its made in the Philipines and ranges in alcohol content from 6-12 percent. Thats what we were told in the Navy during the Vietnam War. That stuff when consumed in copious amounts made the war half way bearable. At least until you had to go back...7th Fleet

7th,

Spent some time myself in Opo... Drank a few San Magoos. Remember the GayToppers, Paulines, eating dog meat on a stick before going back across the bridge. "Throw me coin, Joe!" The "Jungle". Anita, the Canadian Honker - aka The Snow Goose. The Forrestal limping back in after McCain's plane blew up!

Long time ago...

Oh, almost forgot the Fleet Reserve Association parties out at White Rock Beach! Hmmmm...

7th Fleet,

Drove past the San Miguel brewery on my way to Cubi Point to report to the USS Enterprise in 1989. Later that same day, I was sipping one in a local bar. I think the quality controls dropped off a little after the Nam. I felt pretty embalmed after two! But, at 50 cents a pop we were pretty determined to get our money's worth!
