Semi-newbie reloading questions

Even if you can't get it locally, getting 8lb jugs of powder and 5000+ primers at a time online is not bad even with shipping and hazmat fee, because you'll probably get it cheaper online, which will help offset the fees. Go in with a friend and you do even better. More important, you have a hedge against the next (inevitable) shortage. Just make sure you also have plenty of bullets, too, so no one component will shut down your production.

If you really bust your hump finding cheap materials, such as maybe even travelling to larger areas if local is too expensive, you can save some money. At this time I believe that my nine is costing 15-16 cents a round. It's hard to find good grade ammo for that price.

My options are buying questionable brands for abou 25 per round locally, paying 30+ per round for big three loads, or spend the time in my shop.

I agree that group buys are the best way to go. Hazmat and shipping costs about $3 per pound on a box of twelve. That's helpful if you have three people picking up powder. Missouri bullet ships flat rate, and they'll pack as many as you want in a box. You could split thousands of bullets with a friend.

The biggest complaint I have about online shopping is shipping costs. I have unlimited free shipping at Amazon. No matter what I buy, I look there first. I just bought new dies at about ten less than online, and no tax or shipping.
