Is there any affordable, semi auto shotguns? I would like to get one, but don't have the means to pay an arm and a leg for one. Lmk, thanks!

Sure, try Mossberg.

Moving upscale pricewise, Weatherby has some good quality (imported) semi autos that are very reasonable.

Browning's entry level semi-auto is the silver series...like the Silver Hunter model...and it retails for under $1,000.

You might shop around and see if you can find a new in box ...Browning Gold model...they quit making them in a 12ga about 3 yrs ago ( they still make it in a 10ga ) ...but there are still probably some 12ga models out there in the distribution systems.

There are an awful lot of used guns out there too...

In shotguns you get what you pay for ....but $ 800 - $1,000 you have some options...

Might take a look at good used Reminton 1100s. Good solid guns. Quite a few available. Check gunbroker for a start.

Mossberg 930/935. Plenty of stock/barrel options to make it your dream gun.

Sorry, MY dream gun is an O/U custom built to my specs at no additional cost, and the Mossberg isn't even close to being considered. I'd go with a pump before a Mossberg semi..................but that's what makes it all good, isn't it?

super affordable anyways, friend has one, hasn't seen a lot of use. I was there for its maiden voyage and we had no issues with about 4 boxes of ammo.

depending on what your use is, I like the Linberta LSTAC tactical

this is a great gun, in my experience with it, my stepfather owns it and it has a zillion through it

but I dunno what your definition of affordable is, you might want something in a higher tier than these

Remington 1100 AKA G-3 is a fine shotgun for the money

Mine is in 20ga and I use it for everything from sporting clays to pheasants.

Mossberg 930/935. Plenty of stock/barrel options to make it your dream gun.

They look good on paper, but Mossberg still hasn't figured out how to build a reliable semi-auto. Their pumps are good guns for the money.

I'd look used first. The used Remington 1100, 11-87's are probably the best bet for the money I own a couple of older Benelli M-1's bought used at a fraction of the new. Both have worked perfectly for me. Sometimes you see used Beretta 390's at decent prices too.

The cheapest semi that I have had a positive experience with is the Stoeger.

My 935 does HD, hunting, clays and 3 gun matches. The 930 Jerry Mickulek edition is pretty popular as well. I did drill and short tap an extra gas port for target loads but it is not needed for the most part. The "buffer tube" sucks for stock selection but still allows shims to get the fit right. 2 barrels and a mag extension allow this to do most anything you could need a gun for. Winchester bulk shells are the only things mine won't eat but they also broke an extractor on my 835.

Generally, you CANNOT determine the dependability of a semiauto from posts from those owners that got a good one. Such anecdotal accounts, while honest, too often are limited to those who had good experiences with THEIR particular gun. A LGS in a position to sell you different guns is more likely to be more objective and, especially if the LGS has a house gunsmith, an opinion based on much broader experience. I suspect that most shooters, including myself, tend to push what they own. Still, beware of clerks who only know what they read in the latest gun magazine or from a message board.

I don't have one, but if I was looking for an affordable, but dependable, autoloader, I would look for a used Remington 1100.

Finally got a semi auto shotgun! Got a ATI Tac SX2. (12g)
It's a 18" barrel, 5+1 semi auto. Gonna try it out this Sunday!
