Sellier & Bellot ammo?

S&B has made ammo in both Boxer and Berdan primed. I prefer the reloadable type for the obvious. While I bought it to get to the brass, I found their ammo to be good quality. I know the Makarov brass keeps going and going.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile

S&B is good stuff. I've been using it for several years and its my ammo of choice for range and IDPA stuff.

Natchez Shooters Supply sells it regularly for $4.99 in lots of 10 or more boxes. A case (1000 rounds) will run about $115 shipped to your door, and it'll usually get there 2-3 days from the date of order.

I've shot a case of the stuff in my Para P-13 and thought it was really dirty and less accurate than other 230gr hardball. For cheap loads, I prefer Fiocchi which I get for the same price from ammoman.com.

Some say it is dirty but other than that, it always seems to go bang. It is factory jacketed ammo and I have never had a feed problem.

I haven't had any feed or reliability problems in 9mm (Ruger P89) or 45 (HK USPf). Accuracy seems comparable with PMC and other inexpensive ammo, and certainly better than reman range junk. I also prefer Fiocchi when I can get it for about the same price, but I'm happy with either.

raging....

FWIW - I've fired in excess of 5000 rds of S&B in both 9mm and .223, without any problems. I haven't noticed that it is significantly dirtier than any other brands. I've got a ton of it in my ammo cabinet right now. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. At the same time, other than price, I wouldn't recommend it over any other "fun shootin'" ammo, but it's certainly as good as most other brands.

It is reliable in my Glocks. It does seem really dirty to me, and it gets lots of the gun dirty, not just the chamber. Magtech also seems really dirty to me.

I bought some Federal ballisticlean at a reasonable price from cheaper than dirt. Now that stuff is clean!

Sellier & Bellot...

Ok, forgive me for asking this question, but I'm not hip on gun terminology yet...I'm still new to handgun shooting.

What parts besides the chamber get dirty that I need to know about?

I use info from http://www.f-r-i.com/glock/index.htm to clean my Glock. As far as doing a good job on cleaning the gun, is everything on this site that I need to know about? To be honest, the manual that I finally got is somewhat complicated. I like this because its straight forward and easy to understand.

Any help would be appreciated.

Erick

I have shot a mess of S&B in 9mm, 40cal, .38special and .357magnum. Never have had a bit of problems with any of it. It seems to be no dirtier than any of the other low to moderate priced ammo (American Eagle, USA, UMC, CCI).

My G21's favorite factory ammo is S&B. Used it time and time again for IDPA matches through that gun with nary a hiccup.

In my humble (but totally correct :D) opinion, S&B is the best of the "cheap" ammo on the market. Maybe a smidge on the "dirty" side, but not enough that it's an issue.

Working on the 3rd case from a G22. Dirty, but reliable, and accurate enough for practice sessions.

As others have said before..... I also prefer Fiocchi when I can get it in .40.

RagingBull454: In response to you question 'what gets dirty?', chamber, barrel, some muzzle, slide interior. By dirty, I don't mean caked on crud, but some minor blackening by burned or unburned powder and fillers. S&B is probably no dirtier than Winchester USA, UMC, Federal American Eagle. It will not foul your piece to the point where it becomes unfunctional, even after several trips to the range without in between cleaning. Don't be overly concerned with the comments.

S&B is fine to shoot in your Glock. I shoot it in my Glocks. The only thing I have noticed is that when doing close defensive drills the stuff can spark on a concrete floor. Sometimes the range operator comments, but most of the time he doesn't.

I just called Glock today to get a screw driver to adjust the sights sent out to me, and the subject of ammo came up, and I told him that I was going to use S&B. He said not to use any offshore ammo, because there was a reason the Czech army is getting rid of it at such a low price.

He said Glocks were intended for military use, and designed for premium ammo.

Any advice?

Erick

Ragingbull: Who ever you spoke to at Glock is brain dead. Using his/her logic one wouldn't use a Glock pistol because it's offshore. S&B is loaded to European industrial standards and in my experience it goes bang in all my various 9mm handguns, including Glocks. As for being dirty, it's about the same as most practice ammo. That's why Hoppe's #9 was invented, clean your guns after you use them. You want dirty, shoot black powder(now that's fun).

S&B brass is good for reloading too.
